Ana Hurtado, DVM
Veterinary Technician, Comparative Medicine
Hometown: Cali, Colombia, South America
Tell us a little about yourself, your hobbies, passions or goals.
I grew up in Cali, Colombia. I received my degree as a veterinarian in 1999 from La Salle University in Bogota, Colombia. In 2006, I moved to the United States with my family and worked for many years as a veterinary technician in different small animal practices.
I am married. I have two children and three rescued cats, Katie, Elvis and Frankie. I love to spend time with my children at the soccer fields, going to the beach, listening to music and studying.
I am passionate about my career. I have always loved medicine and it is still better if it can be applied to animals. It is rewarding to see happy faces and wagging tails when your job is well done.
My goal is to get licensed as a veterinarian in the U.S. and share my acknowledgement with the research department.
What made you choose FAU?
FAU is a big challenge for me. Joining the Department of Research has been a change in my life, and I am looking forward to working with the department and learning from the best ones.
