Liuwa Plain is a living tapestry of life and epic movement. From some of Africa’s most powerful hyena clans and strong lion prides, to rare antelopes such as oribi and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest and more than 480 species of birds (including large flocks of cranes, some exceeding 150 in a single flock), this ecosystem is both raw and deeply interconnected.

Beyond the drama of predators, herbivores and plains, the landscape also reveals quieter wonders, wildflower blooms and thriving pollinators, bringing vibrant colour and sound to every horizon.

SEAMLESS WINGS ACCESS

Reaching King Lewanika is now easier than ever, with Ker & Downey Zambia’s own air access connecting travellers with daily flights from Livingstone and Lusaka (eliminating the need for forced overnights). These flights arrive at Matiamanene to the camp, a mere 10 minute game drive from the airstrip.

Beyond our owned air access, we welcome guests on their aircraft or air-charter company of choice into Liuwa. Collectively, these enhancements assure travellers of greater flexibility, reduced travel time, and a smoother journey between King Lewanika and onward destinations.
