A Renovation for St. Andrew’s Sacristy
If arriving early for mass, you might see Altar Guild members making last minute preparations for the service. From the left of the altar, they work from a space known as the Sacristy. The word derives from the Latin “sacer” the root that gives us words such as “sacred,” “sacrament,” and “sacrifice.” While our Sacristy has faithfully served the parish for decades, the space itself had become inefficient and no longer met the needs of an active liturgical space.
Following financial support provided by generous parishioners, Fr. Gary invited Mtr. Molly, Sara Conrad, Stephen Fairley, Linda Fitzsimmons, Dan Randall and E. Michael Whittington to form a Sacristy Renovation Task Force. After a competitive bid process, a local cabinetmaker was selected to design and install new custom cabinets and countertops. The project will create well-organized storage and improved work surfaces. A key consideration for the Task Force was acknowledgement of the Sacristy as a sacred space. “As members of the Altar Guild we approach our task with mindful reverence, care, and a deep sense of gratitude,” reflected Sara Conrad. The sacred nature of the space will be enhanced by engraved Canterbury Crosses decorating the cabinetry and preservation of the original gothic arched window. Construction and installation have been scheduled for this coming week.

Annual Pledge Campaign | Through November 15
Last Sunday, we kicked off our 5-week Annual Pledge Campaign, a time when we ask members and friends of the parish to prayerfully discern and complete a financial pledge card for 2027. Through our pledges, we are able to express our common commitment to support God’s continuing ministry at Saint Andrew’s—and to help the parish to plan financially for the coming year. Our 2027 campaign will conclude at our Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, November 15. This year’s Annual Pledge Committee includes: Lee Gray (chair); Rusty Infinger (past chair); Andrew Culbreath; Mike Delello; Kay Friddle; Patty Slay; Gregg Welborn; and Tracey Welborn. We look forward to this opportunity to share our gifts in ministry together.

October Youth Group Gathering | October 25 | 5 - 7 PM | Parish Hall
Here at Saint Andrew’s, we share in the unique splendor of Anglo-Catholic worship. But have you ever wondered why we use incense in worship? Or considered the meaning of the white robes and colorful vestments in worship? On October 25, you are invited to join our monthly youth gathering as we explore together the history and spirituality of key parts of our worship, from prayers addressing Saint Mary, to making the sign of the cross before receiving communion. After eating dinner in the parish house, we will gather in the sanctuary to explore these practices of our community. Email formation@standrewsgreenville.org to RSVP.

Nominations for Vestry & Diocesan Delegate
As we prepare for our Parish Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 15, please prayerfully consider who might offer leadership in the following positions:
- 3 Vestry positions for full 3 year terms;
- 1 Diocesan Convention Delegate for 4 year term;
Our outgoing vestry members, Leigh Randall, Annette Geraghty, and Linda Fitzsimmons, constitute the Nominating Committee – so please advise them of any suggestions.
Qualifications for Vestry: Under our parish by-laws, to be considered for the Vestry, an individual must be a confirmed adult member of the congregation and make a financial pledge for the next calendar year. Also, an outgoing vestry member who has served a full term is not eligible for one year following the completion of that term, and only one member of a household may serve at any given time. Under diocesan guidelines, members of the Vestry are also required to maintain up-to-date Safe Church training and submit to a diocesan background check.
Qualifications for Convention Delegate: Under our parish by-laws, to be considered for Diocesan Convention Delegate, an individual must be a confirmed adult member of the congregation. In addition, an outgoing delegate who has served a full term is not eligible to serve as delegate for one year following the completion of that term.

UPDATED: Parking at Saint Andrew's
For detailed parking instructions, click here.
***PLEASE NOTE - West End Baptist Church, which owns the parking lot around Saint Andrew's, has reduced the parking lot area available on Sundays to the area closer to South Main Street--with the back part of the parking lot (against Rhett Street) no longer available. As a result, please enter the parking lot via South Main Street. The map linked below has been updated to reflect that change.***
| |
Note: You need a parking decal to park in the designated lots. They can be found on the shelf to the left of the doors as you exit the church.
| Sunday Altar Flower and Presence Candle Dedications | |
On Sundays, we have the opportunity to offer a special dedication of the altar flowers or presence candle in honor, memory, or celebration of loved ones. The cost to the church for altar flowers is now $100 per Sunday, so we are suggesting that donations for dedicating altar flowers be in the range of $50 to $100 to help us cover those costs. The suggested donation for a presence candle dedication is $10.
If you would like to sign up for a Sunday, please see the sign up sheet on the bulletin in the Parish Hall or click on the button below. You may place a check in the offering plate with "Altar Flowers" or "Presence Candle" noted in the memo.
We will continue to only have Altar Flowers if someone has signed up and paid for the arrangements. As a result, we will need to know by the Tuesday prior to the upcoming Sunday if you would like to sign up.
