Baptisms this Past Sunday
At this past Sunday’s 8:30 AM Mass, we were delighted to baptize, through water and the Holy Spirit, Sophia Sloan-Praytor and Millie Batte, granddaughters of Jerry Batte and Jennie Beam-Batte.
We welcome Sophia and Millie into Christ’s Body the Church!
Announcements
Sterling School Supply Drive | Through Sunday, August 6

As the children of the Sterling Neighborhood return to school along with the rest of Greenville County school kids, we are partnering with Christ Church’s Annual School Supplies drive to send them off ready to learn! We all remember that First Day of School feeling, showing up with a new backpack filled with new notebooks and pencils, ready to learn! Help our neighbors fill new backpacks and return to friends they have been missing! Our goal is 150 packages of 10-count sharpened Ticonderoga or Dixon #2 pencils. You can shop and deliver to the Parish House (please mark bags “Sterling School Supplies”).
West End Association Meeting | Tuesday, August 1
6:30 PM | Parish Hall

Saint Andrew’s will host the monthly West End Neighborhood Association meeting. They will discuss numerous topics that relate to the neighborhood, downtown and our surrounding community. All are invited.
Blessing of the Backpacks
Sunday, August 13 | 10:30 Mass

Many of our local schools start their new year on Tuesday, August 8! In celebration of that milestone, students and teachers are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church the following Sunday so that the students, teachers, and their backpacks can be blessed for the coming year!
Yarn Donations Needed

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is in need of donations of yarns. Medium weight skeins of yarn in any brand and any pleasant color are requested. The Yarn Donation Box is located in the Parish Hall by the table near the entrance. Contact Joyce Ford at 864-901-4446 with any questions.
Saint Andrew’s Book Club Next Meeting | Sunday, September 3 | Following the 10:30 AM Mass | At the home of Anne Marie Currier (22 Arcadia Circle, 29605)

Please note we will not be meeting in August. At September's Gathering, we will be discussing The Secret Place, the sequel to Tana French’s novel Faithful Place, which we reviewed at our July meeting. Text Anne Marie to RSVP: 864-517-2116.
Next Rebuild Upstate Workday
Saturday, October 7

In April, despite the weather and a few unforeseen circumstances that delayed our start, Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church members partnered with Rebuild Upstate to help repair a home in our community! The group worked to tear down and rebuild a porch (see pictures below). Some of our team members learned new skills and all of us enjoyed serving together!

Please mark your calendars for October 7 as we will once again partner with Rebuild Upstate to help in returning dignity, safety and stability for our neighbors through home preservation.
Updated Parking Permit Decals Available

Our new Saint Andrew’s parking permit decals are now available in two formats — one that can be applied to the inside window and one that can go on the outside (which may be necessary for folks with heavily tinted back windows). Moreover, in addition to adding to decals to vehicles that don’t currently have them, we are also asking parishioners who have the old decals to replace them with these new decals.
Summer Choir | Rehearsal on Sundays at 9:30 AM

We are always seeking additional volunteers for the Saint Andrew’s choir, which gathers on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM (and not on Wednesday evenings) to prepare the music for the 10:30 mass. This more limited time commitment provides an excellent opportunity for prospective new members to “try us out.” If you have questions, contact the Parish Office—or just show up on Sunday morning!
Nursery During Worship
Sundays| 10:30 AM Mass
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are delighted to be welcoming some of youngest members back to the Saint Andrew's nursery! Each week, in addition to our Nursery Supervisor Jane Babb, we need at least one parish volunteer to serve as our second nursery caregiver. If you have gifts for working with infants and young children – and have “Safe Church” training (and are fully vaccinated), we could use your help! (And, if you can volunteer but don't yet have "Safe Church" training, you can complete the training online. Contact the office to get a link to the online training platform.) Please sign up for an upcoming Sunday at www.standrewsgreenville.org/signup
Coffee Hour
Volunteers Needed!

Please consider volunteering to assist with refreshments and set up for our coffee hour fellowship following the 10:30 AM Mass. A sign up sheet can be found on the “Welcome” bulletin board in the Parish Hall or online at the link below.

Sunday Altar Flower and Presence Candle Dedications
On Sundays, we have the opportunity to offer a special dedication of the altar flowers or presence candle in honor, memory, or celebration of loved ones. The cost to the church for altar flowers is now $100 per Sunday, so we are suggesting that donations for dedicating altar flowers be in the range of $50 to $100 to help us cover those costs. The suggested donation for a presence candle dedication is $10.

If you would like to sign up for a Sunday, please see the sign up sheet on the bulletin in the Parish Hall or click on the button below. You may place a check in the offering plate with "Altar Flowers" or "Presence Candle" noted in the memo.

We will continue to only have Altar Flowers if someone has signed up and paid for the arrangements. As a result, we will need to know by the Tuesday prior to the upcoming Sunday if you would like to sign up.

Feed Thy Neighbor

Founded in 2010, Feed Thy Neighbor is a cooperative effort of the Episcopal community in Greenville. Parish volunteers from Saint Andrew’s, St. Peter’s, St. James, and Christ Church feed the hungry each Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 AM. At the onset of the pandemic, Feed Thy Neighbor suspended indoor seating and distributed brown bag meals, but they have now resumed indoor gathering. As a result, we are seeking more volunteers to help serve and clean up. Please contact the office if you would like to volunteer: office@standrewsgreenville.org.
