Poe Middle After-School Meal Program
Thursday, February 2
| | |
St. Albans will provide a hot meal to middle schoolers who participate in Poe’s after-school activities on Thursday, February 2. More than two-thirds of the students in the after-school programs receive free- or reduced-priced breakfasts and lunches, and so our meals support those who face food insecurity at home at the end of the day. We have learned and servers have witnessed that these students very much look forward to, and are grateful for, these hot meals. Here’s your opportunity to support this outreach!
Volunteers are needed to shop on your own schedule beforehand and to cook, transport, serve, and clean up on the day-of.
Click this link to learn more and to sign up.
| | Belvedere Packing - Sunday, February 5 | | The next dates for packing food for elementary students at Belvedere will be after the 8:00 AM services on February 5 and March 5. | | Caregiver Support Session on February 12 | | | | The next caregiver support session will be on Sunday, February 12 after the 10:30 AM service in Room 11. | All are welcome! If you have any questions, contact info@stalbansva.org and we will connect you with the support team! | | |
Muldoon Concert Series: Carmina & Illuminare
Sunday, February 12 at 4:00 PM at St. Alban's
| | Carmina and its sister organization, the treble ensemble Illuminare, will present a program of Renaissance and early Baroque choral works by English and German composers including music by William Byrd, Thomas Tallis, Thomas Tompkins, Johann Michael Bach, Johann Kuhnau. Director Vera Kochanowsky will also perform organ voluntaries. | | | This wonderful program begins at 4:00 PM right here at St. Alban's and is free to attend. We hope to see you there! For more information, click here. | | Invitation to Friday Zoom Social Hour | | |
Please consider joining the St. Alban’s Friday social Zoom hour! A group of us began meeting during the Covid pandemic and decided to continue even after in-person activities resumed. It lasts one hour from 4:30 PM every Friday for an informal, unstructured, friendly chat that ranges over travel, favorite restaurants, computers, weather, home improvements, advice, benevolent gossip from St. Alban’s, and much more. Meet people from the other service.
There is no set agenda but the discussion is always interesting. Attendance can be when convenient. Current regulars are Sally and Jerry Sayre, Margaret Pendley, Cathy Casey, Debbie Rosse, Joyce Aument, Fran Walinsky, Elissa Rosasco, Duncan McBride, and Helen Cassidy, and a few others come occasionally.
If interested, contact Duncan McBride demcbride@verizon.net to receive a noon Friday reminder and the Zoom link or to ask questions.

Has anyone seen a porcelain dove (representing the Holy Spirit), or the Star of Bethlehem (example in the picture!), that has resided traditionally in the Godly Play rooms in the basement? They have gone missing, and we'd love to have them back!
Please remember: if you and your children happen to use a Sunday school room midweek, you are responsible to ensure that the room is cleaned up and put back in order. We have recently had a rash of mysteriously trashed classrooms when teachers arrive on Sunday. Please be courteous.
If you see them anywhere, please contact info@stalbansva.org. Thank you!

As always, you can find the donation box in the Narthex.
If you have questions about how Samaritan Ministry's STRIVE program is helping adults to meet their health, education, work, and housing goals, please talk to our representatives Nancy Calvert and Kristi Potts or volunteer Jo Hodgin.
