Confirmation and Reception Classes

Confirmation and Reception (for those who have been confirmed previously in sibling churches such as Lutheran or Roman Catholic) classes begin March 12 at 9:15 AM in Room 12.

Bishop Stevenson is tentatively scheduled to visit St Alban’s on June 18, 2023. There won’t be another opportunity to be confirmed at St. Alban's until 2025, so please prayerfully consider whether or not you (or your children) will want to participate this year.

If you’re interested in being baptized, confirmed or received — or if you need to figure out which one applies to you — please speak with (or email) Fr Paul: pmoberly@stalbansva.org.

Newcomer Formation Classes

For those who are new at St. Alban’s, or who just want to learn more about the Episcopal Church, this is the class for you! Please join on us on Sundays, March 19, 26, and April 2 to learn more about St. Alban’s and the Episcopal Church! We will meet in Room 11 at 9:15 AM. Can’t make all of them? That’s fine! Please come as you are able, we look forward to seeing you!

Acolyte Training: March 18 at 12:00 PM

Have you ever wanted to serve as a member of the worship party? Have you ever wanted to be an acolyte, but you thought you couldn’t? Now is your chance!

The Acolyte Corps is open to children ages 8 years old all the way to adulthood! We will be conducting official Acolyte Training at 12:00 PM on March 18. We will meet in Room 13 and move to the Nave to finish our training.

If you are an active acolyte, this training will be required as preparation for Holy Week and Easter.

Delegate Elections to Diocesan Convention

Every March the Vestry elects two delegates to represent St. Alban's at Diocesan Convention. Diocesan Convention, held in January, is responsible for the "order, government and discipline" of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Virginia. It is a rich opportunity to meet other Episcopalians from around the diocese, and a wonderful opportunity to see the greater Church in action.

In order to be considered by the Vestry for this position, delegates to Convention must be adult confirmed communicants in good standing. If you would like to be considered for the role of delegate representing St. Alban's at Diocesan convention please contact your vestry representative (or any member of the vestry) or see Fr. Jeff.

Second Annual Annandale Bach Birthday Marathon:

Sun. March 19, at 4 PM

Join us for our next Muldoon concert of the season: the Second Annual Annandale Bach Birthday Marathon!

Last year's inaugural edition was a huge hit. Performers this year include Bryan Holten (Mount Olivet UMC), Anne Timpane (St. Columba's, Tenleytown), Sonya Sutton (The Falls Church Episcopal), Linda Egan (retired from Pohick, Lorton), and St. Alban's own Adam Detzner. The concert will feature our famous screen and "pedal-cam." When the marathon ends around 6 PM, a festive reception will follow in the narthex, complete with German food and beer. Bring a friend, or two, and spread the word!

Poe Middle After-School Meal Program

Thursday, March 23

St. Albans will provide a hot meal to middle schoolers who participate in Poe’s after-school activities on Thursday, March 23. More than two-thirds of the students in the after-school programs receive free- or reduced-priced breakfasts and lunches, and so our meals support those who face food insecurity at home at the end of the day. We have learned and servers have witnessed that these students very much look forward to, and are grateful for, these hot meals. Here’s your opportunity to support this outreach!

Volunteers are needed to shop on your own schedule beforehand and to cook, transport, serve, and clean up on the day-of.

Click this link to learn more and to sign up.

Belvedere Elementary Packing

Sunday, March 26

After the 8:00 AM service, we will be packing bags of food for students from Belvedere Elementary school. This is an easy and fun way to support those in need, folks who are just down the road from us!

Future packing dates are: April 23, May 21. We hope to see you there!

Caregiver Support Session on March 26

The next caregiver support session will be on Sunday, March 26 after the 10:30 AM service in Room 11.

All are welcome! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact info@stalbansva.org and we will connect you with the support team!

Parish Clean Up Day on Sat., April 1 from 9 - 12

Save the date! We will be having a parish clean up day on Saturday, April 1 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We hope you’ll join for this fun and helpful time!

Ongoing Toiletry Collection

for Samaritan Ministry in Narthex

A reminder that St. Alban's has an ongoing collection of toiletries for participants of Samaritan Ministry programs. All items must be new and preferably full size.

Annandale Christian Community for Action Updates

We had 30 lbs. in donations last week, only 12 lbs. this week. Just a reminder that even small individual donations are appreciated; many small add up to a more impactful total. As a result of increased demand, the staff identified two specific areas of need. One area is paper goods, all types. If it's paper, they need it. You can buy the large, economical package, and they will break it down into the appropriate family allotment size. The other area is personal hygiene, especially diapers and feminine products. Again, anything you donate is welcomed. Thank you all so much!

Royal School of Church Music Choir Camp: July 31 to August 4

Building on the success of our new Chorister program, St. Alban's will offer a choir camp from 9 AM to noon during the week of July 31 to August 4.

Adam and our fabulous vocal coach Merissa will lead a week of rigorous music making, including rehearsals, private lessons, and, of course, games and snacks! You can read more about the program on the church blog, which has a form to fill out if you are interested, or you can click here.

Let Adam know, also, if you are interested in volunteering with the camp, at adetzner@stalbansva.org.
