Hearing Our Neighbors’ Voices

FACETS is a Fairfax County nonprofit organization that has partnered with St. Alban's for food outreach and the hypothermia program. Terry Angelotti and Nayely Lopez are the FACETS staff who lead Opportunity Neighborhood—Annandale, a collective impact initiative based on building relationships in low-income neighborhoods. Through their Annandale community council and annual surveys, they have been listening and learning about what is important to our neighbors in need. Terry and Nayely will share their approach and findings with us at the 10:30 service and will be available at the coffee hour afterward for more in-depth conversation.

Adult Forum & Christian Education Resume

The adult forum continues on Sunday at 9:15am. The topic this week continues with Bible Translations and Versions. Please join us in Room 11, we look forward to seeing you there!

St. Alban's Merch Now Available!

Want to wear some Saint Alban's shirts or hoodies in your day-to-day? There is good news! We have a Custom Ink shop set up until June 15 where you can place an order for clothing.

Click here to view the shop and order the clothing!

Each person will order their shirts, and they'll all be shipped to the church for pickup after June 15, so shipping is free! Also, check the sizing guide for fit, not only for youth, as each brand fits somewhat differently.

We hope you enjoy these selections, and we look forward to seeing you wearing them around the church!

Submit a Favorite Hymn for Summer 2024!

This summer, we are inviting YOU to vote for your favorite hymns! We will try to select as many of your favorites as we can — with our amazing choir taking the summer months to rest their voices, the congregation becomes the choir! Let’s raise the roof with the joyful sound of cherished hymns.

To submit your favorite hymn, please click here and submit the online form. If the hymn cannot be found in any of our hymnals, please send a link to or a PDF of a score to Adam at adetzner@stalbansva.org. Unfortunately, if such a hymn is copyrighted or otherwise not able to be licensed, we will not be able to include it.

Please feel free to submit more than one hymn, but know that we will try to sing a hymn for every submitter once before honoring second and third submissions.

Our first Sunday using submitted hymns will be June 2. Please note that we will not use submitted hymns on our feast of title (observed June 23). Our last Sunday will be Sunday, September 1. Thank you for your submission!

Try the Summer Choir!

Sundays on June 23, July 7, & August 11

The loft will be open to singers interested in trying out the choir. We will meet at 9:10 to rehearse the hymns, Psalm, service music, and anthem for the day.

The music can be made available in advance for private preparation. Singers should be able to match pitch and have some musical literacy. As we consider shifting our choral program to meeting on Sunday mornings only, with the hope of attracting new singers, these Sundays will be our chance to “test drive” the model.

If you would like to join, please e-mail Adam at adetzner@stalbansva.org.

Help Feed the Families of Poe Middle School

Wednesday, June 12

On every other Wednesday, from 2:30-4:00pm, we pack grocery bags with nutritious food and deliver them to families in need. We love new volunteers, and it is very rewarding, please consider joining us! In addition, we are looking for bag donations – they could be brown grocery bags or plastic ones, as long as they have handles. Please bring them to the boxes in the Narthex and Parish Hall entryway!

St. Alban's Summer Youth Mission Week

City & Wilderness | July 8-12, 2024

Serving our neighbors, growing in faith

This year, we will base our mission activities here, at home in Annandale, for the first half of the week: we will pitch in at Martha's Table, in Southeast DC; and help out with the kids at the ACCA Child Care Center. Then, from Wednesday to Friday, we will go to Shrine Mont, in Orkney Springs, VA, for two days of hiking, fun and fellowship in the Shenandoah.

RSVP by speaking to Fr. Paul.

Samaritan Ministry Toiletry Drive

June is “Toiletry Month” for Samaritan Ministries! The shelves in the NOVA office are desperate to be filled. Please consider donating the following items in the Samaritan Ministry box in the Narthex: Full size shampoo, body wash, bar soap, and conditioner; toilet paper; paper towels; adult wet wipes (travel size). Thank you!

Annandale Christian Community for Action Updates

Last week you donated 65 lbs of food! The pantry as ACCA continues to be in need of canned chicken, canned meat, peanut butter and pasta sauces.

In addition, volunteer drivers have been working overtime to deliver food to people’s homes. If you have a spare hour once every week or two, try doing a delivery. It can be very rewarding. You don’t have to drive on a regular schedule, but just when you have time.

Please drop off food donations in the Narthex, so that Fran Walinsky can take donations to the pantry each week. Monetary donations to ACCA are also welcome! For info, click here.

Contact Gail Coleman, gv.coleman@verizon.net or Debbe Heiman at deborahsheiman3@gmail.com if you have any questions!
