August 2024 was a landmark month for AIA Sub-Saharan Africa (AIA SSA), highlighted by the historic visit of AIA President Kimberly Dowdell—the first Black female president and only the second Black president of AIA to visit Africa. Her trip, which marked a key moment in global architectural collaboration, featured high-profile engagements such as the Nigerian Institute of Architects Abuja Chapter's 40th Anniversary, a CEO roundtable, and cultural tours of Nigeria.
With vibrant discussions on sustainable development, cross-generational teamwork, and mentorship in architecture, Kimberly's visit energized the AIA SSA community and set the stage for future partnerships across the continent.

NCARB: Expanding Access to International Reciprocity

AIA UK has hosted a series of vibrant events and initiatives celebrating key milestones in architecture. The highlight was the 2024 Design Awards summer Gala, marking the chapter's 30th anniversary. Glenn Harmon also achieved licensure through the Mutual Recognition Agreement, paving the way for American architect in the UK.
Members explored architectural gems during a Bike Trip across the Hoo Peninsula, and the Sustainability Series launched with discussions on innovative bio-based materials.
