Check-In with Ms. Kovale
Dear STEM Secondary Spartans,
Thank you so much for making STEM School Highlands Ranch an amazing school for every student and staff person. Over the last few weeks, we have witnessed students demonstrating the Spartan Character Values and your passion for learning. The faculty/staff's hearts grow bigger each time you SHINE. We have all had opportunities to see our students compete in sports events, robotics competitions, field trips, enrichment clubs, parades, community events and the Prospective Spartan Showcase night. STEM will continue to be one of the top schools by working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders, which includes our student body. We believe in each of you and we are dedicated to helping you all reach your full potential.
We know that there has been turnover and turmoil over the last few years with staff retention and the impacts of May 7th and COVID. Your STEM Administration Team is committed to improving our school culture and making your experience at STEM one of the best of your educational career. We ask that you continue to collaborate with us so that together we can continue to innovate and grow stronger.
As the end of the first semester draws closer, the teachers and administration begin planning for the next school year. We collect data about current classes and investigate ideas for new course offerings. We speak with students, parents, and staff to determine our calendar and master schedules. If you are interested in contributing to these ideas and planning for the 2023-24 school year, please consider attending our monthly Student Information Sessions and Forums, joining our various leadership committees, and completing student surveys.
Please take a brief moment to take the following survey about Study Hall and ACCESS class options.
ACCESS is time that is set aside for students to get intervention time for classes when needed. It is also an opportunity for students to get assistance or to re-test in classes when needed. ACCESS is also the opportunity that students get for Social-Emotional Learning and it is time set aside for assemblies for grades and schools.
We ask that you remember to demonstrate high levels of the Spartan Character Values when providing feedback. Your STEM building directors want to know how our students feel about the time spent in study hall and their interest in the ACCESS class.
Thank you in advance,
Ms. Kovalesky, Executive Director

Shout-Outs to all the students who took part in our Cleaning Event on Thursday, Nov. 3, to help get our building ready for our Prospective Spartan Showcase. Our custodial crew was over the moon touched by everyone's help and support. They've been short-staffed and they are stretched so thin, that seeing our students giving back just made their day.
