Check-in with Interim KOSON CEO Dr. Karen Johnson

This first week of May has certainly been very exciting and appreciative!

Teacher and staff appreciation week at STEM School Highlands Ranch is always one of the highlights of the school year, and this week has been terrific! A very BIG thank you to our amazing PTO and the many other parent volunteers and students who came in on their weekend to decorate our hallways and lobbies. Our teachers and staff felt so appreciated and surprised by the love and support.

Each day of the week brought special surprises, breakfast and lunches, and special messages of support and thankfulness. These acts of kindness made all of our staff feel cared for and appreciated. STEM parents are truly inspirational and valued. This is what makes the STEM community so special.

Middle School Student Government Interest

Student Government is a student led organization that plans events for the student body. We are in charge of events like dances, movie nights, Candy-Grams, Coat and Clothing Drives, Crush for a Crush, Door Decorating, Stemfest, Spirit Weeks, and much more!

Due to an overwhelming interest in Middle School Student Government, we are utilizing an application process this year. Each prospective member is required to fill out the following application. Please email your completed application to Mrs. Gasser no later than May 18th. Late applications will not be considered. Your application will be reviewed by an anonymous panel of teachers. You will receive an email from Mrs. Gasser informing you of your status in Student Government by May 25th. We look forward to a great year!

If you have any questions, please email michelle.gasser@stemk12.org.

Student Survey Reminder

The annual Student Survey is out now! Please fill out the survey by May 8th. The results will be shared with the STEM administration team and the Board of Directors. The data will inform future Student Advisory and administrative projects. All answers are collected anonymously.

Evolv Implementation Team Update

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Students,

As you may know, we were awarded a grant from the Douglas County Commissioners to enhance security on our campus through a one-time funding grant to pilot the Evolv Security System.

The Evolv Implementation Team comprises board members, staff, students, and parents. We have been meeting this past month to prepare for this pilot program at our new Athletics Entrance.

There are currently four subcommittees to this team. Additional committees will be formed as needed throughout the implementation of the Evolv Security System.
