KOSON Chief Innovation Officer Update from BOD Chair Kelly Reyna

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Community,

Your dedicated KOSON/STEM Board of Directors has been working hard all year long to continue our mission of Never Stop Innovating. In order for us to accomplish this, the Board truly believes that we have all the right pieces in place to continue to grow and bring our Instructional Model of Problem-Based Learning to every student.

In addition to an energetic and committed Board, we have a highly-qualified leadership team at our flagship campus that has proven to us over the last six months that they have the right pieces in place to continue to provide our students with the best possible learning experience and environment.

As was shared before break, the KOSON Chief Innovation Officer position has officially been posted and we are actively recruiting candidates for the position. The KOSON/STEM Board of Directors are excited to take these next steps and we hope that our community will be involved in the process.

The Chief Innovation Officer of KOSON Schools will exemplify the mission of Never Stop Innovating. They will be responsible for strategic vision, building stakeholder relationships, fundraising, replication, overall accountability for the KOSON Schools network, and maintaining alignment with the policies and strategic direction of the KOSON Board of Directors. The position will report directly to the KOSON Board of Directors and work to accomplish Board established yearly objectives and benchmarks.

Direct reports to the CIO will be the KOSON Shared Services team (Robert Hoornstra (Chief Operations Officer), Star Ake (Chief Financial Officer), Nicole Bostel (Communications Director), Jaquelyn Howe (Human Resources Generalist) and Mike Pritchard (IT Director)), LynAnn Kovalesky (STEM School Highlands Ranch Executive Director) and any Executive Directors of future campuses.

STEMShares Clothing Drive Reminder

Hi Spartans!

Student Advisory is raising items of clothing for our January Warm Clothing Drive. All clothing items will go toward homeless shelters within our area and the local community. We will provide boxes for all 6th period/homeroom classes for middle school and elementary, respectively. The class that raises the largest amount of clothing items will receive a Pizza Party! We will be collecting clothes from January 10-31. We prefer clean and wearable clothes to be donated. Student Advisory appreciates your help in our community!

Thank you,

Student Advisory

Update from STEM IT Department

Our IT department has been graciously allowing students to charge their computers in their offices; however, lately, it has become overwhelming for them. We are asking all parents to help support their students in bringing their computers to school charged each day and ensuring that they bring a charger with them to school. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 17, students cannot charge their computers in the IT department.

Student Shout-Outs!

We want to celebrate our students and for our students to celebrate each other. Give a Shout-Out to a fellow classmate!

Elsie Hulsman

Responsibility

Elsie is an all-around great person. I didn't even know which trait to put because she is so many! Elsie is exceptionally responsible as she emails classmates that she's working with just to check in and make sure everything will be done on time. And even after it's technically finished, she'll go the extra mile just to make sure it's perfect. Elsie is an amazing student!

Sofie Rincon

Empathy

Sofie is someone you can trust anything with. She'll always help you no matter who or what is bothering you and puts others in front of herself.
