A Note from the Team

Dear partners and supporters,

The challenges presented by the political climate this year have been a lesson to us in embodying one of our core principles: adaptability. We have been continuously evaluating our food and beyond-food programs to stay relevant to the shifting needs of our community.

Have you been listening to the news and wondering, “what can I do about this?” By ourselves, it feels like the extent of our impact is limited. But our partners are not just big organizations. They’re individuals, small and mid-sized groups, and people like you. Together, with you, we can collectively make a bigger impact.

In collaboration,

The Feast of Justice team

Adapting our Food Programs

In response to federal policy and SNAP changes, we temporarily adapted our food distribution model this fall to serve 33% more households than we had already been serving. In spite of federal government changes, we have continued to ensure that our families still receive an average of 55 pounds, or about $120, in groceries during their monthly visits.

Bar graph is titled “Number of unique households Feast of Justice served annually”. In 2022, 1,525 households were served. In 2023, 2,600 households were served. In 2024, 3,517 households were served. In 2025 (year to date), 4,270 households were served. Each bar shows an increase of at least 750 households year by year,.

This graph shows the extreme increase each year in the number of households we are serving across Northeast Philadelphia. We may not have been designed to serve over 4,000 families a year, but we have adapted to meet our community’s timely need.

The number of people we are serving continues to rise to unprecedented levels for our non-profit. This is both amazing in how many families we're impacting, but also concerning for the drastic increase in need among the community (and limitations of our resource capacity to accommodate).

Meeting Health Needs Beyond Food

To provide holistic support to our Feast of Justice families, we are expanding to include nutritious tastings made with pantry items, garden and health programming, health screenings, public benefits referrals, and a resource desk where guests can get connected to local resources.

Partnerships lead us to exciting new endeavors. This fall, we began to co-host programming with our Northeast Services Hub partner, Mural Arts’ ESL class, including our American Heart Association workshop series on heart health being taught in both English and Arabic! We aim to do more than just give out food during tough times – we want to provide opportunities to nurture a healthy, sustainable, and meaningful life.

Volunteer and Donor Impact

Volunteers altogether contribute roughly 350 hours each week to keep our programs running: well-stocked with a generous variety of fresh and frozen food to choose from, well-staffed to greet guests with a dignified experience, and working behind-the-scenes on administrative needs.

Throughout the start of our group-giving campaign this month, donors like you have already helped us raise an incredible $5,418 of our $20,000 goal. This helps us supplement the recent decreases in outside funding and increases for in-demand food items. Community groups have also organized food drives to collect hundreds of pounds of items for us to stock our shelves.

Whether you have donated your time, money, or goods to us, you directly play a role in helping us fulfill our mission. It takes a community to address all the structural challenges linked to food insecurity.
