Meet the Author Night - Coming this Fall!
CHANCO is reading: Medusa: The Myth of Monsters by Katherine Marsh
WHEN: Sunday, September 15th at 4pm
When your campers aren’t flying through the woods on our ziplines and paddleboarding on the James River, we hope that they will spend some time this summer reading. This activity is important for young minds, and is even a requirement of many Virginia schools. This fall, accomplished Episcopal author, Katherine Marsh, is partnering with Chanco to encourage youth to read by offering a special meet the author night. Ms. Marsh is the author of many award-winning books for young readers including the 2023 National Book Award Finalist, The Lost Year, and Nowhere Boy.
At our special meet the author night, Ms. Marsh will be discussing her latest book, MEDUSA: THE MYTH OF MONSTERS. The program will begin with a short presentation, followed by an opportunity for participants to ask the author their own questions.
MEDUSA is the first in a Greek Myths series for readers 8-12. Imagine Percy Jackson, Wednesday Addams, and Madeline Miller...at Hogwarts. The New York Times featured it earlier this year in its Book Review. It’s a conversation starter for elementary and middle school students about using your voice to stand up for yourself and help others. The book also explores a key theme of all of Ms. Marsh's books: who gets to tell the story. Best of all, the magic school world and adventure is fun, entertaining and fast-paced. You can learn more about Ms. Marsh and find her book at https://katherinemarsh.com/.
We hope that many of you will join us for what promises to be an interesting evening!
