September 30
National Day for Truth And Reconciliation
The first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was held in 2021. It was created in response to Call to Action 80 in the 94 Calls to Action, calling for a federal statutory day of commemoration. It coincides with Orange Shirt Day, which was first honoured in 2013 by the founding non-profit organization, the Orange Shirt Society.
This day serves to recognize the legacy of Residential Schools, and the painful, ongoing impact it has had on generations of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. It is a day to honour both the Survivors and the many children lost forever.
CITT/ICTS encourages you to find time to reflect on and honour the Indigenous Peoples of your community.

Rendez-vous technique des arts de la scène 2026
Another great edition!
On September 9 and 10, the 21st edition of the Rendez-vous technique des arts de la scène was held at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec City.
This year’s event drew 80 participants—62 technicians from across the province of Quebec—and featured 7 trainers and 3 speakers for its 8 professional development activities. About fifteen corporate partners in the stage equipment industry contributed to the event’s success by supporting the 5@7 cocktail reception, the demo-lunches, and pop-up booths.
The organizing committee for the Rendez-vous technique consists of: Emeric Demangel (20K), Nadine Delisle (Grand Théâtre de Québec), Francis Marion (Palais Montcalm), Hugo Bisson (Theatre Petit Champlain), Sandra Matte (CQICTS and Centre d’études collégiales de Montmagny), and Yana KM (CQICTS).
The Rendez-vous was preceded on September 8 by a roundtable discussion on the challenges of technical direction organized by the Quebec Center of the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technologies (CQICTS), followed by a tour of La Caserne. These discussions on workforce retention, continuing education, and infrastructure projects highlighted the importance of creating spaces for dialogue among performing arts professionals. Beyond the discussions, these gatherings foster the transfer of expertise, the creation of new collaborations, and the development of a strong network that benefits the entire sector. Thank you to all participants for their generosity and commitment.
Thank you to Shure, CetecGroup, SFM, Solotech, Go Multimédia, IATSE Canada, Microbrasserie de l’Ile d’Orléans, Show SDT, LSM, Satir Productions, Équipement de Theatre G.C. Ltée, and Éclat audiovisuel for their support.
See you next year!

Spotlight Maestro, new followspot cueing software for live production
Made by Gavan Swift, a lighting designer whose work spans musicals, drama, opera, concerts and events, Spotlight Maestro is a new followspot cueing software for Mac and Windows that tracks ETC Eos and grandMA consoles and puts a live cue sheet on every operator's screen. The app writes a calling script for the spot caller, with every cue as a spoken line. It prints operator sheets, the master plot and the calling script as PDFs, and it imports and exports CSV for shows that already have a plot in a spreadsheet.
Spotlight Maestro is built for the lighting network. It never needs the internet, nothing loads from the web while it runs, and it works on fixed IP addresses or DHCP, wired or wireless.
Spotlight Maestro is licensed per production and bought outright, at US$60 per production plus local taxes. There is no subscription, and the licence covers every operator, every device and every computer the production uses.
