September 30
National Day for Truth And Reconciliation
The first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was held in 2021. It was created in response to Call to Action 80 in the 94 Calls to Action, calling for a federal statutory day of commemoration. It coincides with Orange Shirt Day, which was first honoured in 2013 by the founding non-profit organization, the Orange Shirt Society.
This day serves to recognize the legacy of Residential Schools, and the painful, ongoing impact it has had on generations of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. It is a day to honour both the Survivors and the many children lost forever.

CITT/ICTS encourages you to find time to reflect on and honour the Indigenous Peoples of your community 🧡

Residential schools operated for more than 150 years. While many Survivors share common themes of being separated from family, language, and culture, each experience was also shaped by the child’s community, the school itself, and when and where they attended.
In this video, Kaila Johnston, Director of Education, Outreach and Public Programming, at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, explains why assuming all experiences were the same risks overlooking the unique histories and healing journeys of Survivors.

📣 Launching soon!
CareerHub: A new and improved Job Board
Furthering our mission to work for the betterment of the Canadian live performance community, and to help support career development at every stage, we are delighted to announce the upcoming launch of CareerHub, a rebranded and expanded version of the CITT/ICTS Job Board.
While continuing to feature job opportunities in live event production, CareerHub will support the promotion and dissemination of a wider scope of learning opportunities and career advancement with the addition of two new posting categories:
• Apprenticeships: This category is dedicated to apprenticeship and internship opportunities that help emerging professionals develop essential career skills.
• Professional Development: This category is dedicated to various learning opportunities such as courses, workshops and job shadowing that support the career growth of those who are emerging into or are currently in the industry.
→ Each category will have its own dedicated page on the platform, allowing users to conduct more targeted and effective searches.
→ Posting to either of these new categories will be free for everyone, members and non-members alike, in order to encourage publications from a wide range of theatres, cultural venues, organizations, and companies.
→ There will be no changes to traditional job postings. The process and the submission form on the new CareerHub will be nearly identical to those on the Job Board, and as before, CITT/ICTS members can post an unlimited number of jobs for free, and non-members can submit job postings for a CA$50 fee.
→ Target launch date is October 6. Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements, and start preparing your career growth opportunities to post on CareerHub!
CITT/ICTS wishes to acknowledge the generous support of the National Arts Centre, which made this job platform enhancement possible, and the additional support from Culture Works Canada through their Student Workplace Program.
Warmly,
The National Office Team and Board of Directors

October Zoom Session
The House Light Dilemma - House Lights in Life after Tungsten
Wednesday, October 15, 2025 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET
Free. On Zoom. Open to all. Registration is required.
Join us for an informative session on LED house lights! In the past, lighting for theatres was often an afterthought. Bulbs were cheap, simple and quality dimming was assured. However, measures put in place by governments worldwide to reduce energy consumption have made incandescent bulbs increasingly difficult to source. Most theatres have turned to 'dimmable' LED retrofit bulbs, but performance varies wildly.
This session will explore LED house light options, how LED fixtures dim, how to choose LED replacements, and what we can do with our existing equipment to improve performance.
Guest Presenter: Jess McNabb, DMX and Production Lighting Specialist at Optics Lighting and Controls.
