Prescribed Fires Promote Ecological Health and Diversity

Local Wildlife Benefit from Burns

Fire is more important to our environment than you may realize. It is a life-sustaining function that has shaped Florida’s ecosystems naturally through the sparks of lightning. Prescribed fires — or controlled burns — benefit the environment by promoting ecological diversity, renewing wildlife habitats, and reducing the risk of wildfires in developed communities.

Learn more about how prescribed fires benefit the ecosystems at Babcock Ranch in this month's blog by Wildlife Mitigation Manager Christina Kontos.
Community Patrol Promotion
Community Patrol Officer Greg Bowser has been promoted to sergeant and assumed duties as first-line supervisor in charge of the evening shift.

"Greg's training, education, and experience as a law enforcement executive are commendable," said Bill Pinho, director of Community Patrol. "His leadership is a valuable asset to our team."

With more than 21 years of experience in law enforcement, Greg came to Babcock Ranch after a career in Pennsylvania, where he was police chief in Armstrong County. He is a resident of the Crescent Grove neighborhood in Babcock Ranch. He enjoys spending time with his family and riding his Harley.
Lake Babcock Drive Closed Today

With a large audience expected for tonight's concert by the Ben Allen Band at Founder's Square, Lake Babcock Drive is closed to traffic from Curry Preserve Drive to Telegraph Park until 10 p.m. today. The closure includes golf carts.

We will be opening the grassy area next to Lee Health for parking during the event. The show will begin at 6 p.m.
Parkside Court Project May Impact Neighboring Streets
Portions of Parkside Court (above) will be closed for two weeks for drainage repairs.
Parking Rules Relaxed During Work

Residents in the Parkside neighborhood may notice an increase in street parking over the next two weeks.

That's because work will begin Monday to repair a drainage issue on Parkside Court. Portions of Parkside Court only will be closed, and some residents will lose access to their driveways as a result of the construction.

Those residents will likely be parking on adjoining streets. Overnight parking rules will be suspended for these residents, and golf carts will be allowed on the sidewalk for Parkside Court residents during this time.
Midtown Coming to Babcock Ranch
COMING SOON: Toll Brothers’ Regency neighborhood will feature a mix of single-family and low-maintenance attached villas overlooking lakes and preserves.
Project Includes New Parks, Trails and Green Spaces

Check out this story and many more about your community in the current issue of the Babcock Ranch Telegraph:

Midtown is about to go uptown at Babcock Ranch. The town’s exciting new second phase introduces even more to love – more parks, more green spaces, more trails, and more opportunities to experience a true sense of community.

Aptly located in the heart of Babcock Ranch’s 18,000 acres, Midtown celebrates outdoor recreation and the natural landscape and introduces more places to live, work, play, and connect with nature and each other.

Community Feedback

Thanks to your team, who has done a great job helping The Community Church make their transition into the Field House on Sunday mornings. In the past month, Shannon (Peterson) has been so mindful of reaching out to me to be sure I knew the facility was open. We are also fortunate to have Bob (Echeverria) open the building for us and be sure we have everything we need.
Thank You!
— Pastor Matt Shapton, The Community Church Babcock Ranch
