Hello Marketing, Happy holidays! It's been a great year for the NAF network, with students learning new skills and growing in so many ways. Through the dedication and hard work of volunteers like yourself, students have been able to learn new skills and grow in ways they never thought possible. Your efforts are truly making a difference in helping these students navigate toward their future careers.

Academy of Health Sciences Celebrates 10 Years

Last month, the Wake County School system in Raleigh, NC held an internship preparation forum for over 600 students. Here are a few testimonials from Enloe Medical Biosciences Academy students on their career journey in our Academy of Health Sciences, celebrating 10 years this year!

"My favorite things about NAF is how they give so many opportunities to get shadowing and clinical experience... One of my favorite job shadowing opportunities was at a clinical center... I was able to interact with teens and other patients... and this allowed me to get more motivated to go into mental healthcare and help me find my passion in healthcare."

One of the many opportunities I have been given was to job shadow a doctor at Cary Cardiology, where they taught me well — how the clinic operates, how they deal with patients, and how they organize patient information. The application requires a Letter of Recommendation – a fantastic chance for an advisory board to back a student or guide them in choosing the right person! If you know a student applying, please let us know! Applications are due by Feb 1.

WBL Impact Program - Now Accepting Submissions!

To incentivize and recognize Outcomes-Driven Work-Based Learning at our academies, NAF is excited to announce the launch of the WBL Impact Program, with support from American Express.

Through this program, our academies will have multiple opportunities to be recognized for work-based learning activities and have the chance to win gift cards and all-expenses-paid trips to NAF Next in Florida (July 8-11, 2024)!

Network Highlights

Pre-Apprenticeship Day Miami

Over 400 students gathered to learn about the pre-apprenticeship programs that the district offers. Pre-apprenticeship programs provide training based on industry standards and are approved by a Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) partner. By participating in these programs, students can gain valuable skills that prepare them for success in the workforce. And for employers, pre-apprenticeships can save time and money while providing hands-on training to apprentices.

Pink Out Day: Washington D.C.

On October 30, Calvin Coolidge High School, the NAF AOHS and HOSA chapter, celebrated Pink Out Day in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Together, all Colts wore pink, students participated in lunch time trivia, dined on pink treats, and wrote messages of hope.

The purpose of Pink Out Day was to recognize friends, family, and loved ones who have fought against breast cancer or whose lives have been impacted by the disease.
