With evolving rules and rising complexity, providers are grappling with the growing burden of prior authorization requirements.


In this article, "Prior Authorization: Changes and Dilemmas," Caryn Rasnick, Chief Operating Officer of Boon-Chapman, shares her perspective on the impact of specialty drug carve-outs and highlights the need for PA criteria that reflect clinical evidence and individual patient needs.

SIIA is actively engaged in coalition efforts and policy discussions at both the federal and state levels. On Capitol Hill, the association continues to support HSA-related provisions included in the House-passed “One Big Beautiful Reconciliation Bill” and opposes any limitations on the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored health coverage.


At the state level, SB 11 in Connecticut, which proposed new stop-loss insurance requirements, was not taken up in committee. In Louisiana, provisions restricting stop-loss based on employer size were removed from SB 16.
