| | | Dr. Kendall Noel – New Role and Article Publication | |
We are proud to announce that Dr. Kendall Noel, Assistant Professor and Director of Evaluations in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, has been recognized for his important work in program evaluation by becoming the incoming Chair of the CFPC’s Board of Examinations and Certification. Congratulations on your new role.
Dr. Noel also recently authored an article titled Perennial post-examination surprises | The College of Family Physicians of Canada (cfp.ca). The article explores the “post-examination surprise”—certification examination failures of competent family medicine residents and experienced practicing physicians. While it is commonly believed that these failures reflect a practicing physician’s busy life (i.e., distracted study time) or the anticipated decline of a clinician’s knowledge due to aging, a review of the literature suggests another explanation.
