July 10, 2023
An unusually large entry this year, with drivers in at least four groups encouraging fellow competitors to participate, has given us some unusual options creating our Groups and Classes. We will have classes in every Group:
- An all Formula Junior Group, probably with 4 classes determined by engine location and gearbox type. 27 entries; classes to be determined.
- Same with Sports 2000. 27 entries; classes to be determined.
- A MG Feature Group, classes to be determined. With 57 entries some will run in the Prewar class in the War Era Group; some in the Early Post War class, same Group; and the fastest MG’s in the “Under 2 Litre Sports Cars” Group.
- Contrary to our initial planning, we will have a Wings and Slicks Group to which we will add a Formula Ford (treaded tires) class.
Lawrence Auriana is our Honored Collector; the curator of one of the finest collections in the World of unique Italian cars. There will be 16 of his Alfas, Ferraris and Maseratis on display all weekend, and obviously featured in the Sunday Concours. There will be a dinner Saturday evening honoring Larry. More information available in a week.
Chrysler and Hemi are our featured Marque for the weekend. Chrysler will be sending a truck load of rarely displayed cars from their private collection, including the Chrysler Turbine and the 1995 Atlantic concept car. They will join an elite group of Ghia-built concept cars from private collectors. All are fabulous examples of Chrysler’s rich design and engineering legacy.
The head of design at Chrysler, Maserati, Fiat, etc., Ralph Gilles, is our Special Guest. Smart, funny and knows everything about cars. Try to meet him. Part of the panel for Larry’s Saturday night dinner.
The Competitors dinner Friday (2 tickets for every driver) is MG-centric with a good and relevant panel.
The Sunday Concours has 3 MG classes, Formula Juniors and Sports 2000s, and “Picks of the Paddock.” Additional special Concours classes include Maserati Sports and GT cars, a display honoring Carroll Shelby’s 100th birthday and several Chrysler-focused displays.
The Thursday Parade starts at 5:00 this year, not 4:00 as usual. You must enter ahead of time. There will be three categories: MGs, Competition Cars, Pre1975 street driven Sports Cars. Register Here: https://limerock.com/parade-registration/
- Absolute cap of 125 entrants. For many, the best part of the weekend. Ends in a street fair in Falls Village, 4 miles from the track.
- The parade route is 18 miles, some slow. No mufflers, plates, inspection required. Also, no exceptions to car eligibility.
