Dear Amanda,

Today is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). As a survivor of FGM, this is a very important day to me, and I am proud to announce the recent publication by AHA Foundation of FOUR new legal guides for FGM survivors.

These guides are designed to help survivors in their respective states if they wish to seek justice for what was done to them. AHA Foundation was the first organization to start producing such guides, with the invaluable help of the law firms White & Case and Reed Smith. Read all about the new guides here.

Last month on January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we joined voices with the Independent Women’s Forum in reminding the United Nations and its agencies, other women’s organizations, and the leaders of the world that we must remember the victims of the Holocaust and the promise the world made to them: NEVER AGAIN. You can read our statement here.

Thank you for your support, which allows us to make a real difference in the lives of girls and women who have suffered because of this abusive practice. But the fight is not yet over. I hope you will keep standing with us.

AHA and Allies Call for an End to Child Marriage in Washington

On January 18, AHA and our allies attended a chain-in protest in Washington state calling for the Senate to pass a bill that would end child marriage in the state.

Washington's largest newspaper covered the protest, and in the image right you can see AHA's Susanna McIntyre (left) and Michele Hanash (right) participating.

Established by Ayaan Hirsi Ali to put the ideas she writes about into practice, AHA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is committed to preserving, protecting, and promoting Western freedoms and ideals.

We stand up for universal human rights and oppose tyranny in all its forms, whether it comes from oppressive traditions such as female genital mutilation, honor violence, and child/forced marriage, illiberal ideologies shutting down free speech and inquiry on campus and beyond, or Islamist extremism.

We believe that Western values and ideals apply to and protect everyone. We champion a world defined by liberty for all. Sign up for our newsletter here. Read about our 2023 achievements here and watch our 2023 impact video here.
