Hello, Riverbats! We hope you had a restful spring break and are ready to close it out with renewed energy and enthusiasm. In this edition of The Transfer Times, we’re shining the spotlight on Yesenia Cervantes, a current student of ACC all set to transfer to Texas State University in the fall. Join representatives from universities with degree options in Science, Engineering, & Math for a panel discussion on transfer issues, helpful hints, and information on their institutions. You will be able to ask questions after the moderated panel.

Join university representatives for a panel discussion Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) programs at their institutions. These programs accept your AAS degree and apply your credits to your future bachelor’s. Get your questions answered!

Honors Program Information Session

Curious about the Honors Program and what it could do for you? Join representatives from the Honors Program for lunch and a conversation about the benefits of becoming a member. The session is on Friday, April 5 from 11:30am-1pm at Highland Campus Welcome Center. Learn about Honors courses, specialized advising, internships, scholarships, transfer opportunities, and more! Live Chat with ACC Transfer Specialist

Our appointment calendars are filling up quickly for the rest of the semester. If you can’t find a time to meet with us, consider hopping in our Virtual Chat Hours to get help with your quick transfer questions! Transfer Specialists will be available on March 29 and at dates in April. Use this link to drop in.  


Apply for Financial Aid

Whether you’re staying at ACC or planning a university move for the next academic year, consider applying for financial aid. ACC has extended the priority deadline to May 1 for the FAFSA for the 2024-25 school year. Financial aid is distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Complete the form early for your best shot at securing financial aid. For questions or to connect with 1-on-1 support, visit austincc.edu/financialaid.

Yesenia Cervantes, current student and member of the Green Team at ACC, is excitedly looking forward to pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Texas State University in the fall.


Yesenia notes that meeting with a Texas State Navigator on campus was extremely helpful to her. Her advice to students: “Definitely make sure you have enough credits to transfer to your designated university.”

Transfer Specialist

Brandon Roberts, Transfer Specialist (North Region), has been associated with ACC for almost 2 decades. With nearly 20 years of invaluable advising experience, Brandon’s recent inclusion in the Transfer Services team has proven immensely beneficial. Passionate about working with students to achieve their goals, Brandon’s mantra is clear: “It’s never too early to start planning!”

ACC to UT Advisor Networking Forum 

The annual ACC to UT Advisor Networking Forum took place earlier this month at ACC’s Eastview campus. Attended by faculty and advisors from both institutions, this event helps our staff keep up with changes at UT and provides key information that aids student transfers. The event also featured a transfer student panel. 


ACC Scholarship Season in Full Swing

Students are now invited to apply for scholarships at ACC, with a priority deadline of May 1, 2024. ACC scholarships are eligible to everyone, and all students are encouraged to apply. Typically, 1 in 4 applicants receive financial aid through scholarships. For more information on ACC scholarships and to apply, visit austincc.edu/scholarships.  


ACC Chancellor Engages in SXSWEDU Panel Discussion 

Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart, ACC Chancellor, was part of a panel discussion at the SXSWEDU conference earlier this month. Titled “Promise & Peril: The Potential of Our Community Colleges”, the panel delved into how community colleges are tackling problems including dropping enrollments and pandemic learning loss.
