The Simmons School solves problems through research, framed by the highest standards of inquiry and defined by collaboration across fields. Our latest ranking in U.S. News and World Report reflects this strength.
Over the past three years, our ranking has continued to rise. We started at 105 and moved up to 63. From there, it jumped to 59. This year, we advanced to 54.
The progression places us among the top public and private education schools in the country. Simmons now moves up to the top 12 national private schools of education and to the top of our state’s private education schools –we are No.1. For a young school of education, we remain nationally competitive in research, teaching, and learning. Our ranking is shaped by many factors, but what our research faculty members are doing is extraordinary. External funding per faculty member is $323.8 thousand and our researchers’ determination to pursue important work is setting a grant funding record at SMU.
We know the Covid pandemic impacts students and their families with many challenges, but what we can solve as educators is to assess and improve learning. The evidence-based practices we teach in Simmons are defined by our research.
Rankings are important, but behind those numbers are huge efforts by professors and researchers to find out what works in education. We are responsible for fashioning the best tools we can for teachers to help students learn.
