President’s Convocation Calls to Push Past Normal, Achieve the Remarkable

The Illinois Wesleyan University campus was encouraged to savor the excitement and optimism that comes with a fresh school year at the President’s Convocation on Wednesday, Sept. 7 in Presser Hall’s Westbrook Auditorium. 

Myanmar Paintings, Stage Design Showcased in IWU Galleries

Art exhibits featuring a collection of private paintings from Myanmar and hand-crafted stage renderings from more than three decades of IWU theatre productions will be presented at Illinois Wesleyan University galleries from Sept. 12 through Oct. 13.

Titan Athletics

The Illinois Wesleyan football team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University for the season opener on Saturday, Sept. 10. At 45-21, Titans marked their highest point total in a season opener since 2012.

Renee Davidson '01 was added to the Monticello High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Ellen Gilbert '22 was recognized for her scholarship and swimming achievements while at IWU as an Academic All-American. She also discussed her internships in Bloomington and future career path.

The Pantagraph

Taylor Williams '18 was named a nominee for The Pantagraph's 20 Under 40 program, which recognizes young professionals who excel in their career, are passionate about their community and are making a mark in Central Illinois.

Director of Esports Cora Kennedy was nominated for several people's choice awards through The GameHers Awards, including Top Educator of the Year, Coach of the Year and Charity Streamer of the Year. Learn more about the voting process here.

Wellness Corner

Wellness classes and activities for all fitness levels begin this week.


  • Yoga will be available from 12:15-12:55 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the Niepagen South Classroom in the Shirk Center. Yoga will be taught by David Vale from the Yoga Lab. The university gives employees an extra 15 minutes for lunch if participating in a university sponsored exercise program.
  • Personal Fitness will take place from 4:45-5:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the track in the Shirk Center. Grace Redman, personal trainer, will lead this program. 
  • Fitness Walking with Mindy McCluskey will take place from 12:15-12:45 p.m. on Wednesdays on the west end of the track at the Shirk Center.
