As a true advocate for students and compassionate director of the Hart Career Center, Warren Kistner has received the 2022 Max L. Starkey Service Award at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Whether it’s providing hospitality on campus, serving the local legal system or exploring programs at a tech giant company, around 70 Illinois Wesleyan University students participated in summer internships, according to the Hart Career Center.

Illinois Wesleyan University’s Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year consisted of 743 students from 30 states and 17 countries.

President Georgia Nugent will begin with the announcement of this year’s Max L. Starkey Award winner followed by an update on university initiatives and plans. Campus colleagues will share information about our incoming class and how we plan to support all of our students in the coming year. Light refreshments will be served.


4-5:30 p.m., Center for Engaged Learning, The Ames Library — Faculty Scholarship and Creative Arts Celebration — The Ames Library will host the annual faculty scholarship and creative arts celebration showcasing our faculty's rich scholarly, artistic and creative productivity. 

This year, the celebration will also honor the recipients of our inaugural Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Scholarship & Creative Activity, and Excellence in Services Awards.

Tyler Schwend, associate professor of biology, co-authored a paper with Manish Pathuri '22 titled "Investigating Scarless Tissue Regeneration in Embryonic Wounded Chick Corneas" that was recently published in The Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE). Co-authors also included James Suprlin and Peter Lwigale of Rice University. 


Brett Ludwig '98 was named Lehigh University's vice president for communications and public affairs.

Parking During New Student Move-In

New students will be moving into campus residence halls this Wednesday, Aug. 24. To allow access for students and families, we ask that faculty and staff do not park in the parking lot south of Gulick Hall (Lot L) or the Hansen Student Center lot beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 through Aug. 24. Alternative parking is available in the lots at the Welcome Center or Evelyn Chapel. We also ask that you don't park on campus streets North East Street, East University Street or North Main Street during Move-In Day.
