Bea Manlapaz '25 Highlights Support at IWU as an International Student

Titan Athletics

The women's soccer team claimed the 2022 tournament title in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin after a 4-1 victory over North Central College on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Titans' victory marks the fifth time in program history where IWU has claimed the tournament title.

They will see firsthand the diversity in the workforce today by industry, identity and intersectionality. 4 p.m., Henning Room, Memorial Center — ReligiosiTEA — The Office of Multifaith Engagement supports the diversity of worldviews present at Illinois Wesleyan – religious, spiritual, and secular. We seek to provide a venue for asking meaningful questions – including questions about who we are and what we are for. All are invited to our weekly gatherings to meet our Multifaith Ambassadors and enjoy refreshments provided.

6:30 p.m., Auditorium, Welcome Center — Titan Career Chat: Careers in Government & Politics — Join Matt Glavin ’01, Senior Principal with Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies, as he shares information about careers in government and politics.


7 p.m., Beckman Auditorium, The Ames Library — International Film Series: "地球最後的夜晚" (Long Day's Journey into Night) — Presented by visiting Assistant Professor of History Harlan Chambers. Most films in this series are shown in their original language with English subtitles; films are closely tied to courses or academic programs, and faculty members present a short introduction to each film, often with group discussions after the screening.

Friday, Nov.11

11 a.m., Flagpole, Robert S. Eckley Quadrangle — Veterans Day Ceremony — Prince Robertson, Dean of Students for Inclusion and Advocacy, will talk about the story of The Four Chaplains, including IWU alumnus Chaplain George L. Fox. There will be a moment of silence while the laying of the wreath takes place, followed by a trumpeter playing "Taps." The campus community is invited to attend, especially those veterans who have served our country, and any family members and friends of those who are currently serving.


4 p.m., Beckman Auditorium, The Ames Library — Faculty Colloquium: Assistant Professor of Japanese Chisato Kojima — The Office of the Provost will host a reception in the speaker's honor immediately following the talk in the rotunda outside of Beckman Auditorium.

A new publication co-authored by students and Assistant Professor of Biology Richard M. Alvey highlights a recent deposition of the genomes of 24 newly discovered Rhodobacter capsulatus bacterteriophages into the GenBank DNA sequence database.


Steve Groetsema '07, chief operating officer and partner at Bridge Development Partners, was recognized on Crain's Chicago Business 40 Under 40 list.


Alan Leahigh 67 was presented the Cord Blood Association’s 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award.


Charles and Joyce Eichhorn Ames Professor of Physics Gabriel Spalding was re-elected as Vice President of the Jonathan Reichert Foundation, a non-profit working to establish programs and grants for hands-on instructional laboratories in physics, beyond the first year of university.

Save the Date: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration - Realizing Our Power of Place

The campus community is invited to join the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, hosted by the IWU Intercultural Fluency Committee. Attendees will meet at Evelyn Chapel at 10 a.m. for a symbolic march to Young Main Lounge in the Memorial Center. Refreshments will be available at 10:15 a.m., followed by the celebration event at 10:45 a.m. Concurrent educational sessions and a closing ceremony will occur from 1-4 p.m.
