2022-2023

Blossom Hill Vision Statement – (Abilities and skills we expect our students to acquire and take out into the world)

All students will have the necessary skills to become enthusiastic, life-long learners and productive, empathetic, respectful members of society.

Blossom Hill Mission Statement – (What we need to do as a school community to ensure this happens)

The Blossom Hill School community takes pride in providing an enriched standards-based curriculum in a safe, nurturing environment. We strive to appreciate an awareness of students’ developmental needs to help them progress toward independence.

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Blossom Hill Families,

At our school, our efforts, passion, and commitment are aligned to LGUSD’s 2020-2026 Strategic Plan that includes the following six Strategic Objectives:

Objective #1: Student Wellness

Objective #2: STEAM & Social Innovation

Objective #3: Community & Global Citizenship

Objective #4: Academic Excellence/Curriculum & Instruction

Objective #5: Staff Professional Growth & Support

Objective #6: Sustainable Finance & Infrastructure

The planning done by teachers, staff, and parent volunteers is aligned to support this work. With that in mind, I would like to invite your child to participate in the highly anticipated 2023 Blossom Hill Science Fair.

Next week, our librarian, Amy Grespan, will be collaborating closely with parent volunteers, Melissa Crow and Michelle Avlas, to provide all K-5 students with an overview of the Scientific Method during their weekly visit to the library. The intention of the interactive sessions will be to help educate students on how to form a hypothesis and plan a project. On Monday, January 30th, students in all grades will attend an assembly with Professor Smart who will also inspire students to Bee Curious, Ask Questions, and Test Ideas. This assembly is sponsored by your parent contributions to LG One Community.

In hosting the Science Fair, we hope to ignite in students a sense of curiosity about the world and foster an understanding of the scientific method of inquiry. Additional outcomes include: developing scientific literacy, self-confidence, presentation skills, creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and task completion. The event also provides a great opportunity to strengthen the home/school connection.

Important Science Fair Dates:

Registration Opens: January 11, 2023

Projects Due: March 15, 2023
