Blossom Hill Vision Statement – (Abilities and skills we expect our students to acquire and take out into the world)

All students will have the necessary skills to become enthusiastic, life-long learners and productive, empathetic, respectful members of society.

Blossom Hill Mission Statement – (What we need to do as a school community to ensure this happens)

The Blossom Hill School community takes pride in providing an enriched standards-based curriculum in a safe, nurturing environment. We strive to appreciate an awareness of students’ developmental needs to help them progress toward independence.

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Blossom Hill Families:

Please mark your calendar for our first School Site Council (SSC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 29th from 2:45-3:45 in the multi-purpose room.  The SSC’s primary responsibility is to ensure our school is continually improving by implementing state adopted curriculum and the best research-based instructional practices.  The focus of the Council’s work is to continue to strengthen our academic and social/emotional programs so all children may achieve to their fullest potential.  The SSC is responsible for the understanding, development, and implementation of the Single Plan for Student Achievement.  This plan is a record of the vision, goals, objectives, and strategies developed by our school community and should be understood by all stakeholders.

The SSC is composed of equal representation of two groups – parents/community members and school personnel.  Peer groups select their members and each term of office is staggered in two-year terms to ensure continuity.  Decisions made by the Council are made by majority vote.  If you are interested in serving as a parent member, or just want to learn more about the work the Council does, please contact me or join us at our first meeting.

The SSC will meet monthly throughout the school year.  All meetings will be held on Thursdays from 2:45 to 3:45. The meeting dates are:  9/29, 10/27, 12/1, 1/26, 2/16, 4/27, and 5/18.

I strongly encourage all interested parents, elected to a position or not, to attend any or all SSC meetings.  I welcome your input and highly value your perspective and participation.

In education together,

Lisa Reynolds, Principal
