Blossom Hill Vision Statement – (Abilities and skills we expect our students to acquire and take out into the world)

All students will have the necessary skills to become enthusiastic, life-long learners and productive, empathetic, respectful members of society.

Blossom Hill Mission Statement – (What we need to do as a school community to ensure this happens)

The Blossom Hill School community takes pride in providing an enriched standards-based curriculum in a safe, nurturing environment. We strive to appreciate an awareness of students’ developmental needs to help them progress toward independence.

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Blossom Hill Families:

As we revel in the golden elements of autumn, it is a natural time to reflect on the many blessings of belonging to the Blossom Hill/LGUSD learning community.  We are especially grateful for the generous support from families. Some parents have donated their time to support and kick-off many beloved programs on campus such as pottery, SR2S’s Honeybee Barcode program, and Mileage Club. In addition, approximately 35% of families have made donations to the Home & School Club (HSC), through our One Community LG (OCLG) campaign, equipping our students and teachers with tools for success. We hope you will join other parents in showing your gratitude for Blossom Hill by contributing to OCLG today.

The first $350 (per student) of your OCLG donation goes to the Home & School Club.  The HSC budget is used to pay for teacher and student supplies, workbooks, pencils, paper, art supplies, classroom technology, software licenses, instruments, student assemblies, pottery supplies, Project Cornerstone, and more.  Parent contributions to OCLG guarantee each student walks into their classroom with books, tools, programs and supplies ready for use.

The OCLG exemplifies the partnership between the HSC and LGEF. For several years, the HSC and LGEF have jointly funded many of the programs that mean the most to our students, including library, music and art.  Any donation above $350 per student funds salaries for Blossom Hill teachers who lead our PE, Library, Art and Counseling programs. New this year are the STEAM Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSAs) and our Spanish teacher.

Historically, Blossom Hill families have participated at a high level in our Fall fundraising drive.  As stated above, our current participation rate is 35%.  Our goal is 100% participation in the OCLG campaign from our Blossom Hill families.  I hope we can receive your support today.

I encourage you to show your gratitude by donating to OCLG at a level that is comfortable and appropriate for your family.  When we ALL chip in, our kids win.

In education together,

Dear Parents,

As a District, we take emergency preparedness seriously. Part of our safety protocol includes regular emergency drills. This year we are conducting a District-Wide Emergency Drill that includes all schools and the District Office. The purpose is to practice our emergency organizational structure and communication.

Our district-wide emergency drill will take place on the morning of Monday, October 17, 2022. As part of this drill, we will test our emergency communication system. You will receive a TEST MESSAGE via text, phone, and email during the drill. This is our system protocol for emergency messaging. You do not need to respond to the message or come to the school. This is our time to practice with our students and staff.

To support our District-Wide Emergency Drill:

Taking time to prepare our staff helps support our students in the event of an emergency. We thank you for your support as we work to practice and refine our safety protocols.

Yours in education,

LGUSD Administration

Thank you Blossom Hill families for making our first STEAM night a huge success!  We had more than 180 kids attend!

Thank you to our STEAM TOSAs for all of the planning and preparation of the fun activities. And thank you to all of our volunteers for making the evening great, especially our Fisher students who were amazing!

We would love to get your feedback.  Click here to complete a brief Google survey.  All families who complete the survey will be entered to win a $50 gift card. (If you couldn't attend, you can still complete the survey as there are questions for you too.)

Want more STEAM?  Check out the STEAM extension activities at www.onecommunitylg.org.

Safe Routes to School and the Honeybee Power Programs are back! We are looking for Fisher Middle School Students to help scan students on Monday mornings throughout the year for our Honeybee Power program. Data collected through these programs help the local Safe Routes to School Chapter work with the town and police department in allocating resources for student safety.

Mileage club is back! Thursday, October 13, 2022 will mark the start of our 26th season. Volunteers are needed to scan runners between 11:45 am - 12:50 pm. Mileage Club sessions are planned on Mondays and Fridays (with a few exceptions). Students will run just two days a week instead of the prior four days per week. The season is kicking off earlier in the year to take advantage of cooler temps. Come cheer our students on as they learn to set and achieve goals! Parent volunteers can sign up here

Coming Soon - Hicklebee's Bookfair!

It’s back! Hicklebee's Book Fair is coming soon! The Fair will be open during the school day and after school for students AND families to visit during conference week. It’s a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping or add to your reading libraries at home.

November 15th 7:55AM – 1:00PM

November 16th 7:55AM – 1:00PM

November 17th 7:55AM – 3:00PM

The Fair will need lots of volunteers to make this a success. Please check next week’s Beehive for the Signup Genius link.

We will offer our popular Gift Certificates for your children and teachers to buy books during the Fair. It’s a great alternative to sending your children to school with cash that could easily be lost. An online Gift Certificate Order Form will be available next week as well.

Please direct any questions you may have to our Book Fair Co-Chairs, Nicole Duke, Rebecca Escobar or Francine Shore at

 bookfair@blossomhill.org.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thank you to our Home & School Club Community Sponsor of the Week!
