The Rhode Island Local Technical Assistance Program (RI LTAP) is a cooperative effort of the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration’s Local Technical Assistance Program. The RI LTAP is a part of the RIDOT's Educational Advancement Unit, often referred to as the Training Office.
Our Unit is small with a current staff of 3, pictured above from left to right: Sydney Wagner, RIDOT Training Supervisor, Kathleen Sisson, Director of Educational Advancement, and Jennifer Roman, RI LTAP Program Coordinator. Our small but mighty team works to provide relevant learning opportunities for RIDOT employees and for our local transportation workforce and decision-makers.
The LTAP program’s primary focus is to provide quality and accessible education for the local transportation community in Rhode Island. The training, resources, and technical assistance are provided for Local Public Agency (LPA) employees responsible for the planning, management, and maintenance of our state’s public roadways.
Our collective goal in the Education Advancement Unit is to improve the skills and increase the knowledge of the transportation workforce and transportation decision-makers through targeted training and professional development opportunities. Together with You, we foster a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound surface transportation system in Rhode Island.
