Every year in New England, Fall marks the transition from summer to winter.
For many, Fall is looked at as the end of things. It is the end of summer, daylight hours dwindle, days at the beach become few and far between, and children are no longer playing in yards or riding their bikes during the warm daylight hours as they did on summer break.
Fall, however, is also the beginning of many things. Color erupts along our roadways and coastline, harvest celebrations and festivals are held across our region, and cooler nights are soon followed by cooler days. A new school season begins and with it
The Rhode Island LTAP thanks all of you, our local transportation workforce, for all of your hard work and dedication to keeping Rhode Island beautiful and for the work you do to improve the quality of life in your communities and all those who visit. This past year has seen extreme weather emergencies that have had significant impacts on Rhode Island. We recognize the essential work and services that you provide in these situations and throughout the year including preparing and maintaining streets, water systems, sewer systems, storm response and cleanup, and so much more. Thank you for all that you do.
As we look forward to the remainder of Fall and the beginning of Winter, we want to take this opportunity to remind you that classes hosted by the Rhode Island LTAP, whether virtual or in-person, are offered to our Rhode Island municipal and tribal partners at no cost. Our goal is to help you do your job more effectively and efficiently, and equipped with the appropriate knowledge. The Rhode Island LTAP is a Rhode Island Department of Transportation program that sponsors these learning opportunities so that more of your budget can remain focused on the work needing to be completed in your communities.
There are great upcoming learning opportunities and just a small number are listed below. Is there a specific training that your local road agency needs? Complete the RI LTAP Training and Technical Assistance Request Form and email it to dot.RILTAP@dot.ri.gov.
Remember too that the handheld sign retroreflectometer is now available for loan. You can sign up to borrow the equipment using the Retroreflectometer Online Request Form.
