Hello Everybody,

WOW! It sure seems like August got here in a hurry!

Time flies when you are having fun, and I am being totally honest with you when I say I am having fun. That is not saying that some of the things that have come up have not been challenging but working with you guys just makes everything better. The minute I need help with something one of you will step up and lend a hand. You are a great group of people who I am honored to work with. THANK YOU! 😊

Don’t forget that the annual NBAL Potluck will be this month on August 20, from 6 to 8pm. NBAL, with Laraine Romine’s help, will be providing the meat dish and the reception team will be helping with setting up and taking down. We do need you to please bring a salad, side dish, or dessert to make it a delicious, shared meal. A time to visit and fellowship with our fellow artists. There will be our Book Sale that Myra Knapp will be organizing and an Art Exchange for those who want to participate. This potluck will also be a General Meeting where you can ask the Ex-Board any questions you may have or share some of your ideas that you would like us to hear.

Sad news, we have had a drop in sales this summer. Compared to last year we have had the same number of people come in our doors, but they are just not buying. Everyone I talk with says the same thing that sales usually drop in an election year and with the economy being what it is right now (just look at your grocery bill) no one has the money to spend. So, if you are concerned about not making any sales, take heart, hang on, and pray it all turns around after the election is over. If you have made some sales then congratulations and keep up the good work, NBAL needs you.

Building Update

As some of you are aware we had the air conditioner in the main gallery go out and have now had it replaced. The main gallery bathroom will be worked on sometime this month. I am still looking to hire someone to fix the cracks at the back of the building inside and out, so if you know of a good company, please send the info my way.

Community Art Reach Programs

Thank you, Carol Bissett, for working as our coordinator for Community Art Reach – Adult these past 8 years. You kept the program running during some tough times and we appreciate all that you have done. Marta Roberts will be taking over Carol’s title in January. Marta, who is currently working with the Hill Country Mental Health Developmentally Disabled day program, wants to thank those of you who have left art supplies for her to use. If you missed the message, she is asking that you leave any supplies you want to donate in the boxes across from the office upstairs. Also, if you want to help out by being a guest artist and teach a small project then please contact her.

Community Art Reach – Youth, need someone to take over for Nell Anderson who is stepping down in January. Please contact Nell if you are interested in helping.

TRPA Update

At this time, we have 22 artists registered and 9 sponsors buying ad space from us. Our goal is to have 35 artists and as many sponsors as possible. Please help us get the word out by contacting any of your artists’ friends and inviting them to join us. All the information can be found on the website under Special Shows.

If you would like to participate then please do not hesitate. If you do not want to do the weeklong event then you can sign up to do just the Quick Draw on October 14, but you will need to register. You can find the prospectus and registration forms on the Special Show bulletin board. You can also find the TRPA Sponsors Packet there if you would like to sponsor us or know of someone who might be interested in doing so.

See you guys in the gallery, 😊
