CA General Election is Tuesday, November 8


All California active registered voters should have already received a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 8, 2022, General Election. All counties have early voting and drop-off locations


In-person voting locations offer: same day voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines, and language assistance to those who need it. You can check your voter registration status online at voterstatus.ca.gov.

ARC Beaver Cares Produce Fall 2022

 

The Beaver Cares Center offers walk-up produce distributions on certain Tuesdays throughout the semester where we provide free fruits and vegetables. Open to all currently enrolled ARC students. Pre-registration for Fall 2022 is now available, spots fill up fast!

Newspaper Wins Awards





The American River Current won a number of awards at the recent Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC) northern California competition. In the mail-in contest, the paper won a General Excellence Award as well as awards in the first place, second place, third place, fourth place, and honorable mention categories. In the on-the-spot contest, the paper won first place and honorable mention awards. The JACC website has additional information on the awards.

Interior Design Alum Wins Honor

ARC alumnus Kristen Fiore is one of the winners of the prestigious 2022 International Design & Architecture Awards, hosted by design et al, a leading UK interior design magazine. Kristen’s company, Kristen Elizabeth Design Group, won in the Luxury Residence - Americas category. The award was for a project that oversaw the interior design and direction for all finishes and furnishings throughout a 5,500-square-foot home in El Dorado Hills, including exterior finish palettes and materials and full interior design scope. Healthy Sacramento Day!


The 22nd Annual Healthy Sacramento Day is coming up on Saturday, November 19 from 10 am - 2 pm in Heart Health Park.


Healthy Sacramento Day is a walk-up, outdoor health services event featuring free flu vaccinations, COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, health screenings, fresh produce, health coverage information, and more. 


We continue to strongly encourage our campus community to stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination and booster regimen, particularly as we head into the cold and flu season!

Natomas Center Event

All are invited to the Natomas Center for a Community Outreach and Cultural Event on Thursday, November 17, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. This will be a full afternoon of food, fun, entertainment, and cultural celebration - don’t miss out!

Law Enforcement Seminar November 17


ARC hosts a law enforcement seminar on Thursday, November 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the main campus Student Center. This event features a variety of guest speakers and is designed to connect law enforcement to students. ARC President Melanie Dixon will provide welcoming remarks. Daniel Hahn, Dean, of Sacramento Regional Public Safety Center and retired Sacramento Police Chief, will serve as moderator for a panel of guests including:


  • Kathy Lester - Police Chief, Sacramento Police Department
  • Amanda Ray - Commissioner, California Highway Patrol
  • Sean Ragan - Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigations
  • Lasha R. Boyden - Acting United States Marshal, Eastern District of California
  • Guillermo Viera Rosa - Director of Division of Adult Parole Operations, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
  • Marlon Yarber - Chief Probation Officer, Sacramento County


There will also be information tables for numerous law enforcement agencies including the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and the Folsom, Elk Grove, Roseville, Tracy, West Sacramento, Los Rios, and Sacramento State police departments. Register in advance now.
