Enjoy Your Winter Recess

This is the final issue of the Beaver Bites for the Fall 2023 semester. For continuing students – we'll be back for the start of the Spring 2023 semester the week of January 14, 2023. For graduating and transferring students – we will miss you!

Reminder: All American River College offices will be closed for winter recess from December 23 through January 2. Offices will reopen on January 3.

Wishing you peace and good health this holiday season and a bright New Year! Enjoy your well-deserved break, Beavers!

Congrats to Mid-Year Grads

This is a special shoutout to all of our Beavers graduating at the end of this Fall 2023 semester! During a time like no other, you have achieved an important milestone in your life. Know that the American River College community, your family, and friends are all incredibly proud of you.

As you get ready to start the next chapter in your story, we hope you pause to reflect on your time at American River College and celebrate your success. We hope you make time to commemorate your journey and this moment for yourself and everyone who has cheered you on along the way.

Congratulations!

Consider One More Class for Spring

Did you know 70% of Los Rios students attend on a part-time basis (less than 12 units per semester)? However, a growing body of research shows that community college students who initially enroll in 6 or 9 units a semester, and enroll in just one more course each semester, are much more likely to stick with college, save money, and earn an associate degree or transfer in about two to three years, as opposed to their part-time counterparts who may take as long as five years to complete their program.

If you have the time to devote to this goal for the Spring 2023 semester, consider taking one more class to:

  • Get closer to graduation!
  • Get closer to transferring!
  • Get closer to getting the job you want!

Degree Planner for Academic Progress

Are you planning to transfer to a university? If so, let Degree Planner get you there sooner. Degree Planner is a tool that identifies your major and general education course requirements and provides a recommended sequence in which to take them. Degree Planner tracks your academic progress and completed courses so that you take only the necessary units. You can also make adjustments to your plan, explore different majors, and enroll in courses with just a couple of clicks. Watch the video to learn more.

To access Degree Planner, visit the Student Homepage in eServices and click on the Academic Progress tile and then Degree Planner on the menu bar. This will take you to the Degree Planner Dashboard where you can start using the tool. Most AS-T and AA-T degrees are available in Degree Planner right now. But if you do not have access to Degree Planner, your degree is not yet available in the system. In this case, you will receive a message from the college letting you know when your degree is live and available to view in Degree Planner.

Here is important information from the Los Rios Bookstore. Rentals are due on Thursday, December 18. Students can return the rentals in person at the ARC bookstore or ship them, using their carrier of choice, to the ARC Bookstore. Shipments have to be postmarked no later than December 18.

Buyback is available, year-round, in store (for current students only) and online.

Visit the Bookstore website for more information.

Refund Request Deadline

The last day to submit a refund request to the Business Services Office for tuition or fees is Thursday, December 15. Please go to the refunds webpage for more information.
