Another Semester in the Books!

Congratulations on making it to the end of the spring semester and the end of another academic year! We know the last two-and-a-half years have been challenging for many students, faculty, and staff. Your hard work, resilience, and perseverance are to be commended. Thank you for all you do, Beavers! So what's next?

Summer 2022

Open enrollment for summer classes is happening now! There are still openings in many classes that can help students stay on track or get ahead. Classes begin Monday, June 6.

Fall 2022

The fall schedule includes a mixture of online and in-person classes. Priority registration is happening now with open enrollment beginning Tuesday, May 17, so students should make sure to choose and enroll in their classes early to get the classes they want. Classes start the week of Saturday, August 20.

Save the Date: Fall Convocation

Fall 2022 Convocation will be held in-person on Friday, August 19, from 8:30-11:30 am in the Student Center Cafeteria. Attendees will have the chance to win the children's book, Nian: The Chinese New Year Dragon, authored by Dr. Loh-Hagan.

ARC Faculty Develop OER to Reduce Student Textbook Costs

ARC is participating in a districtwide project to support faculty in developing Open Educational Resources (OER). This semester, eight departmental teams and over 30 individual faculty worked on developing free, customized, accessible, culturally responsive course materials for their classes. This work will result in thousands of dollars of savings for students, and many additional course sections that are Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC). Faculty were supported this work by the Affordable Learning Materials Committee, several peer mentors, and ARC librarians Kate Williamson and Sarah Lehmann. This work will continue for Fall 2022 with another cohort of departmental project teams and individual faculty. If funding is available, there will be a Spring 2023 cohort as well. For more information, visit ARC’s OER Award Program website.

Financial Aid/Admissions and Records Redesign Update

As the semester winds down, the college and district would like to thank all of the staff, faculty, and students who have provided input into the college and districtwide discussions about redesigning Financial Aid and Admissions & Records with the goal of improving service to students in these two critical areas. Discussions about the service delivery model and structure of those offices are still ongoing, and no final decisions have been made yet. Over the summer, college and district teams will be working to address some of the immediate and urgent compliance issues outlined in the reports provided by independent consultants in these areas so that we can begin making substantive progress on improvements for students, irrespective of the outcome of the discussions about structure moving forward.
