Careers in Allied Health

Are you considering a career in healthcare but only have a vague idea of the opportunities available to you? Are you wondering what your options are? Maybe you’re considering nursing school or curious about what it takes to be an X-Ray or Sonography Technician. Or maybe Dental Hygiene or Medical Laboratory Technology interests you. These career fields and many others fall under the broad category of “Allied Health.”

Join us for a virtual presentation on Wednesday, September 28, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, via Zoom (register in advance) that will provide guidance and answer questions such as: How do I prepare for an allied health career? Which classes should I take? What should I major in? How much money can I make in specific fields? Which local schools offer the programs I’m interested in? All Los Rios students are welcome to attend! Presented by the FLC Public Service, Health, and Education Meta-Major team and the FLC Career & Transfer Center.

Get Ready to Transfer with Feria de Educación

Feria de Educación is hosted each year by Sacramento State, the CSUs, and Univision to help primarily Spanish-speaking parents and students access resources and information to prepare for college success. This year, Feria de Educación and the Transfer Corner will be held in person on Saturday, October 1, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Sac State in the University Union. Register in advance.

The Transfer Corner will help students get ready to transfer to a four-year university. Advisors will be on hand to meet with you and review your transcript(s) and help you plan your next steps. If you have already been admitted to Sacramento State, Feria de Educación can help you better plan for your upcoming transition, learn the requirements for your major, or create an academic plan.

In addition to the Transfer Corner, Feria de Educación offers:

  • Workshops
  • "Cash for College" Financial Aid Appointments
  • Dreamer Clinic
  • CSU Apply Workshop and Support

If you have questions regarding the Transfer Corner, please contact Gabriel Delgado at [email protected].
