Supporting Employee's Whole Health

in 2023

Building a strong workplace culture starts with investing in the health of employees. Numerous studies point to the potential benefits for those employers who choose to invest in employee wellbeing.

Better performance & customer experience

Organizations with high levels of employee wellbeing have outperformed the stock market by 2-3% per year over a 25-year period. Companies demonstrating best practice in employee health and wellbeing show a higher-than-average shareholder return – 61% compared to 51%.

Reduced costs

The average annual cost of absence and presenteeism (where employees work but are under-productive due to poor emotional wellbeing) due to health is around 8% of a company’s wage bill. The total cost of productivity to Canadian businesses is around $16.6 billion per annual.

Higher creativity

Organizations promoting health and wellbeing are seen as 3.5 times more likely to be creative and innovative.

Guide to Benefits Coverage for MindBeacon Therapy

It is easy for those beginning in their whole health journeys to get overwhelmed when talking about benefits plans and coverage. A recent study on health insurance literacy showed that patients are struggling to understand their private health insurance plans and even use them correctly.

To engage employees in their benefits coverage, our online therapist partners at MindBeacon have gathered some common questions and guidance for employees in navigating their mental health benefits.

Importance of Sharing the Guide to Benefits Coverage for Mind Beacon Therapy

Mental health claims are the fastest growing category of disability claims in Canada. Employers offer benefit plans to their employees as part of their overall compensation. It is for them to take care of their health and well-being, including their mental health. We know that 44% of Canadian workers say they have or have had a mental health issue and yet only 6% of Canadians use their mental health benefits.

Employees understanding and utilizing their mental health benefits is just as important as their physical health benefits. MindBeacon offers a range on online digital cognitive behaviors tools and services for employees, such as:

  • Guided Cognitive Behavior Therapy Programs (CBT)
  • Live therapy and in-person sessions & assessments
  • Monthly “Ask a Therapist” live online events
  • Virtual therapy clinic
  • Monthly Mental Wellness Newsletter

New Year Refresh

Each January, we are encouraged to make positive changes in our lives, and every year 80% of all those resolutions fail within the first six weeks. It’s an uninspiring statistic – we know.

This January we’ll be sharing how to support healthy resolutions by learning about the body and how to create new habits. Our blog topics will give information on how to build a healthier gut, the positive benefits of colder weather, how good sleep can support better health and becoming more resilient to stress.

Share our latest Wellness Weekly blog articles with plan administrators and business owners to support employees in their 2023 whole health and wellness journeys.
