ITS Berkeley Welcomes 5 New Senior Fellows

ITS Berkeley is excited to announce five new ITS Senior Fellows and two continuing fellows for 2022. We welcome Randy Iwasaki, Dr. Banavar Sridhar, Taj Tashombe, Shari Tavaf, and Johanna Zmud. Mark Dowd and Jeff Morales will continue as ITS Senior Fellows. Read more about the Senior Fellows

Leadership Changes at ITS, PATH

After seven years of tremendous service to the ITS community, EECS Professor Alexandre Bayen has stepped down as ITS Berkeley Director and DCRP Professor and Co-Chair Daniel Rodríguez will take the helm as Interim Director. CEE Professor Scott Moura will lead PATH as the Faculty Director. Read more about leadership changes

ITS Berkeley Highlights from TRB 2022

ITS Berkeley was well represented at the 2022 Annual Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting. Over 45 faculty, researchers, and students from ITS Berkeley and Berkeley Lab were scheduled to present, moderate, preside, or have research featured in over 40 sessions and committee meetings. We had several ITS affiliated students in attendance, including our 10 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellows. Read more about TRB

Incorporating Equity in Transportation Research

The Greenlining Institute, sponsored by ITS Berkeley, will present the Incorporating Equity in Transportation Research Workshop on campus on Friday March 4, 2022 9:30 am - 12 pm. Registration required. Class size is limited and intended for ITS affiliated researchers. Priority will be given to ITS staff, postdocs, and faculty. Registration for students will open based on availability.

This workshop is a starting point to consider how to nurture engagement and collaboration with communities when designing and conducting transportation equity research. The goal is to consider ways to work with community organizations and members in co-developing research questions, proposing research designs, and using methods that will result in more impactful research and more meaningful collaborations. The workshop will provide a better understanding of both the hurdles and the rewards of working with community partners.
