Work with Peeka Trenkle, M.Div, Natural Health Educator, Writer & Preacher
Guided by a deep devotion to the divine, and decades of experience, Peeka Trenkle has been an epicenter of knowledge as well as an inspirational teacher and advocate for natural health. Her approach to healing is grounded in the understanding that healing is a nuanced process that develops and deepens over time on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. With an understanding that we cannot be fully well when our environment is not, Peeka holds central the idea that the pursuit of natural health goes hand in hand with a commitment to restoring the health of the earth.

With a calling to guide people toward a deeper connection with nature, creation, purpose and belonging, Peeka draws from years of practice and experience and teaches about the dynamic interplay between ecology, theology and healing as a sacred path to gentle and profound restoration of health and wholeness.

Peeka’s visionary work aims to educate and inspire those seeking to deepen their commitment to the healing of the world through how we reimagine health in a time of climate crisis - and also to nurture a global community of thinkers and healers. Skills that Peeka has integrated into her work over 40 years include a life-long interest in nature and herbs as well as a background in shiatsu, polarity, cranial-sacral therapy, energy work, flower essence therapy, herbal medicine, meditation, homeopathy, and nutrition. She also has had extensive experience in Jungian psychology and somatic therapies and received her Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary.

The birth of her first child sparked Peeka’s reverence for the process of birth and a commitment to helping reclaim birth as a family experience and not a medical event. After becoming a childbirth educator and doula, Peeka taught childbirth education classes and attended births for over ten years. She is known for her role in co-producing the ground-breaking conference The Art of Birthing which explored the medical, cross-cultural, spiritual and psychological aspects surrounding birth in our culture.

As an herbalist, homeopathic consultant and lover of all things life-affirming, Peeka’s intuitive approach supports others in remembering that nature is truly our home and a source of nourishment that provides for us in substantial and healing ways. For the past 27 years Peeka has run the Green Medicine program at the New York Open Center - a long-term training in Western herbalism. Over the last few decades, Peeka has supported thousands of students and clients worldwide to embrace healing, holism, and the natural world and to take an active role in restoring, cultivating and maintaining their own health as well as understanding the importance of local foods, herbs and waters in this process. She is a licensed preacher through the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and her sermons inspire a love of creation and a call to live more simply and naturally.

Peeka maintains a private practice as a homeopathic consultant, herbalist and intuitive healer both remotely and in person in her office in Denville, New Jersey. She is a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild, a graduate of the School of Homeopathy, New York, and the Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies. She has been on the faculty of the New York Open Center since 1996. A peacemaker at her core, Peeka’s gift of speaking truth to light has led to an emergence of a powerful message through creation care sermons and inspirational engagements.
Ecology: Bioregionalism

Health is our ability to adapt to our environment. The level of our vitality determines our ability to either adjust to a situation or to move away from it. But at a certain point, if our environment is too toxic, adaptation is no longer healthy, and eventually, if we continually move away to cleaner, better places without addressing the mess we have made, we run out of places to go.
