Together with you, we stand in the resource gaps for Michigan families facing leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers, offering personalized support throughout treatment and beyond.

It's so much easier sometimes to just do nothing. When the problems around us feel too big to solve, it's tempting to believe that our impact doesn't matter.

But think about a time in your life when somebody helped you.

Maybe you dropped something important

and someone raced to catch up and return it to you.

Maybe your car ran out of gas just meters from the station

and strangers helped you roll it across the intersection.

Maybe you grabbed the wrong bag on the way out of the house,

so the person behind you offered to pay for your groceries.

You still remember how much that little act of help mattered, after all this time. Every small act of help is huge for the person receiving it.

Every day, volunteers show up to offer small acts of help and support, never knowing who will be impacted by their gifts. Some volunteers do administrative tasks that help BCFM connect to more people. Some volunteers act as BCFM ambassadors to businesses and community groups. Some volunteers help make patient events and fundraising events super comfortable and awesome for every guest.

All of these volunteers, together, are part of every story of help our BCFM patients tell. You may never meet them, but you made their life better by making sure they had the support they needed along their cancer journey.

THANK YOU to all our incredible volunteers!

"I Wish I'd Known that Help was Available"

-Alice F.

Last newsletter, we asked you, "If you're supporting someone with cancer, or facing cancer yourself, what do you wish you had known on Day One?"

Alice answered, "I wish I'd known that help was available." You can make that wish come true for others like Alice! Tell someone about the Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan—we want everyone to know from the moment they first hear, "it's cancer," that they're not alone!

Answer this week's community question!

Imagine putting together a care package for someone about to start cancer treatment. What would you put in that kit?

Get creative, and tell us your "must have" items to make treatment or living with cancer just a little bit easier. A favorite brand of mask that's comfortable? A favorite snack? An eReader for long, boring infusions? A specific doctor or loved one? (Yes, you can put a person in your "kit!")

🦦 You really otter visit the Detroit Zoo! 🦦

The Wild Miles Walk - May 30!

Walk, run, or just have fun at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, May 30 to support families affected by leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood disorders. This benefit event raises funds that can rescue Michigan patients from cancer-related expenses like medication and transportation to treatment, and other hardships like difficulty affording rent or utilities due to the costs of treatment.

We've already beaten our goals for corporate sponsors—can we beat our goal for attendees too? There's room for everyone!

When leukemia, lymphoma, or another blood cancer

changes your life, you want someone in your corner.

Be that someone with a gift to BCFM.
