September 2023
When Paul wrote to the Philppians, he expressed his thankfulness to the Lord when he remembered the saints in that congregation. Like him, and on behalf of everyone at IRBS, I can say that I thank God for all of you, wherever you may be.
The first semester of our twenty-fifth anniversary year has begun. Students are receiving their assignments, professors are offering their first lectures of the term, and all are rejoicing in what the Lord is doing among us. We continue to see growth, we are thinking through several important opportunities the Lord seems to be presenting to us, and we all marvel at the good things He showers upon us.
Here at the beginning of this anniversary year, I want to thank you for your prayerful support for the work of International Reformed Baptist Seminary. We serve the Lord because your gifts and intercession bring these blessings to us.
One more thing: on May 16-18 2024, with the Lord's permission, we will be having a celebration of these many years. On the evening of the 16th, we will be having a banquet to celebrate, on the 17th, a one day conference, and graduation will be on the morning of the 18th. We will be especially pleased if you can be with us for those days. Please save the dates, and plan to come to Mansfield to rejoice with us.
In Christ,
James M. Renihan

| | | | IRBS Student, Joaquin Garcia of California, on his experience at our Missions & Evangelism class in Tijuana: | | What a great experience! The whole week was such a blessing. Staying in Mexico at one of the Radius campuses a few minutes from the border, was definitely the right choice. It set the stage for us to better understand the importance of immersing yourself in a different culture while training for a missionary context. The various lectures by Professor Vegas were very compelling in setting out the clear biblical case for why missions is so central to the local church’s gospel work. A particular case was made for a better biblical method of needing to proclaim the gospel through church planting among prioritized people groups who first need bible translations as they have no scriptures in their heart language. The significant amount of exposure to malpractice among missions work abroad and the positive counter-case derived from sound biblical interpretation and church history was enlightening and helpful. Hearing Brad Buser’s testimony of how he, with God's help, was able to endure the arduous task of actually reaching a remote jungle people group with the gospel over the course of 20 years before cofounding the Radius training school to send others to do the same, was inspiring and challenging, to say the least. The Radius staff was so welcoming and helpful. The Radius students were very impressive in their serious-minded commitment to long term preparation and suffering in order to faithfully complete the missionary task, no matter the cost. Having delicious meals provided by Radius staff and talking to fellow IRBS students as well as Radius students was a delight. We also were able to take a quick walk in the local neighborhood to have some authentic tacos, a wonderful time that will be remembered fondly. All in all, this may be one of the best one-week courses that IRBS offers, and I would highly recommend to any seminary student, church officer, church member, or anyone interested in missions to clear a week in their schedule to attend this course, as I suspect you will not regret it. | | Come visit the IRBS booth at these conferences | | | |
