MOBILITY MONDAY

Message From Our Executive Director, Greg Stuart

Welcome to this week's edition of Mobility Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. The holiday season may be here, but that doesn't stop the Broward MPO team! We continue to find ways to make your commute better in Broward, and across the South Florida region. Our team has recently traveled to Bogota, Colombia to experience Ciclovia, a popular open streets, vehicle-free, bike-focused event. Members of our intergovernmental and PIO teams participated in the Uptown 5K on the Runway to benefit the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation. And we created a website to answer your questions about Electric Vehicles. We will do everything we can to ensure your commute in Broward gets better every day!

BROWARD MPO IN ACTION

Broward MPO Team Visits Bogota, Colombia

to Experience Ciclovia

The Broward MPO team used their personal vacation time to visit Bogota, Colombia last week where they checked out Ciclovía. On December 15, 1974, Bogotans appropriated the streets, displacing vehicles to create a recreational-sports space and bike path known as Ciclovía. Since then, Ciclovía has gone from 20 kilometers to 200 kilometers, connecting the poorest communities in Bogota to the richest. To learn more about Ciclovía in Bogota, click HERE.

Broward MPO Team Participates in Uptown 5K on the Runway at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport

Congratulations to Broward MPO team members Carol Henderson and Paul Calvaresi for running the Uptown 5K on the Runway at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport on Saturday, November 19! The event is a partnership between Trustbridge Hospice Foundation and the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and raises funds to support the Foundation's work in the community. Kudos to the team!

The Broward MPO Unveils "Electric Vehicle Basics"

More than 530,000 new battery-electric vehicles were registered in the U.S. through September. With the demand for electric vehicles rapidly increasing, people are asking questions about the vehicles and the infrastructure to support them. In preparation for the 2022 Round Six Federal Highway Administration Alternative Fuel corridor submission, Broward MPO staff identified several questions being asked by municipal partners, transportation stakeholders, and residents. The MPO quickly developed an “Electric Vehicle Basics” website to help answer frequently asked questions. Click HERE to learn more about this summary of information.
