| | Don't be shy about sending in your Member Brags! Submit them to info@atlassmarketing.com. Include the dog's call name, the title that they earned, and their registered name including the new title. | | Jennifer Annell, Inland Rhodesian Ridgebacks, joined our Club in 2018. Though she has had Ridgebacks for over 13 years, she didn’t get into serious competition until about 10 years ago. And wow, what 10 years it has been! With just three litters, Jennifer has reached heights not achieved by breeders with far more time in our beloved breed. Her first litter produced, Pyro, GCHS CH Inlands Setting the World on Fire CGC BCAT, TKN, ATT, who won an Award of Merit (AOM) at the 2024 RRCUS National Specialty. Her second litter has so far produced two champions, with three yet to hit the show ring, including Rowan, Winner’s Bitch and AOM at the 2024 RRCUS National Specialty. Her third litter, just nine months old when this profile was written, already has multiple point winners on their way to AKC Championship titles. | | |
2024 Rescue Recap...
In 2024, our region helped 19 Ridgebacks who needed RRRI’s assistance to help them find forever homes. The dogs ranged in age from neonates to 9 y.o. While the majority were individual surrenders, there was a pack of 3 from the unfortunate passing of their owner along with a litter of 8 plus their dam.

| | | Obedience Foundation: Heeling | | |
One of the most important aspects of obedience is proper heeling. Many of the obedience exercises are based on heeling, so it is important to get it right. But why this position anyway?
When your dog is in correct Heel position you can see his head without having to turn your head. You should be able to see your dog just by moving your eyes. It is important to know where your dog is, especially when you are working him.
The proper stationary Heel position is your dog on your left in a straight sit with his right front leg lined up
| | |
with your left leg and he should be looking at you, waiting for a command. For my dog, Zak, this position is “Place”. From that position, he is ready to do what is next.
To see the rest of Lorraine’s extremely helpful article on Heeling, and all of her past training articles, please visit our club website: https://www.nwrrc.net/training
