PAL FAQs
How do I upgrade my membership level to PAL (Published & Listed)?
When you add a book to your SCBWI website member profile, you select your publisher in the dropdown list. Choosing that publisher should change your membership to PAL. This “add a book” function on your member profile is linked to the member bookstore. When you add a book to your profile, you’re also adding it to the member bookstore.

However, some publishers that qualify for PAL are not on the list. If you have petitioned the home office to add your publisher to the PAL Publishers List, this is on hiatus while the SCBWI home office works to update our PAL publisher's list on the new site.

If you recently qualified for PAL, for now, you'll stay at the level you were when you joined. Stay tuned for an announcement from the home office on when you'll be able to upgrade from Associate to Full or Full to PAL.
I recently qualified for PAL and/or the publisher of my new PAL book is not on the website's dropdown list. Can I still participate this fall?
YES. Please fill out the Google Forms above to participate in this fall's PAL events!
The SCBWI website transition will not affect your book's promotion by your Illinois Region. If your new book is traditionally published, meaning you did not pay money to have it published, you can participate.

How do I add my PAL book to my SCBWI website member profile?
Add your book to your member profile and the member bookstore (under Member Home > Share Your Work)! Remember that once you’re PAL, you’re always PAL even if your book goes out of print or your publisher no longer exists.

Publication in magazines still qualifies members for PAL. There is a separate function for adding magazine articles to the member profile because the website doesn’t allow you to add articles to the bookstore.
What do I do if I still have questions about PAL status?
