ILPMP Streamlines Direct Patient Referral Feature to Illinois Helpline for Patients Seeking Resources for Substance Use and Problem Gambling Treatment

The ILPMP team is raising awareness on the Illinois Helpline feature that can be found on patient profiles on ILPMP.org and the majority of integrated views on IL PMPnow. This feature allows for providers, with patient knowledge, to fill out and send patient information to the Illinois Helpline for additional resources for Substance Use and Problem Gambling Treatment. The Illinois Helpline services are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with trained specialists. This service is free and confidential with the goal of guiding the patient to the best treatment options for their needs.

The Illinois Helpline is supported wholly or in part through a State Opioid Response (SOR) grant to the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (TI-081699).

ILPMP Peer Review Committee Release FY24 Annual Report

The ILPMP Peer Review Committee identifies providers who may be prescribing or

dispensing outside the currently accepted standard and practice for their

profession. Per statute 720 ILCS 570/320, a referral to the IDFPR may be made for

failure to respond to a request for information, if the response to the request is

considered unsatisfactory by the committee, or if the prescriber does not sufficiently

rectify the practices identified by the committee as the potential for concern.

In FY24, the Peer Review Committee met in closed session semi-annually; December 12, 2023, and May 21, 2024. The committee had access to review data for 25,192 prescribers. To gain more clarification, 77 of the prescribers were sent Requests for Information (RFI) letters and 3 of these prescribers were referred to IDFPR due to no response after three 30-day successive requests.
