Lantern Night

October 26 @ 6 - 8 PM

Location: The Fire Museum of Maryland | 1301-R York Rd, Timonium, MD 21093

For this all-ages event, we turn down the lights and set out glowing lanterns, while visitors interact with re-enactors - including Ben Franklin. There's cider and cookies for everyone, and wine for sale for the adults. New this year: $5 admission for kids and adults. Children under 2 are free.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins at "Lynching in Maryland" Conference.

We are thrilled to announce that 2024 Tony Award-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins will appear at the Maryland Lynching Memorial Project's annual "Lynching in Maryland" conference on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 9.30a to 4p at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore.


Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is a Brooklyn-based playwright, producer, and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist. He currently teaches at Yale University and serves as Vice President of the Dramatists Guild council and on the boards of Soho Rep, Park Avenue Armory, and the Dramatists Guild Foundation. Honors include a USA Artists fellowship, a Guggenheim fellowship, the MacArthur fellowship, the Windham-Campbell Prize for Drama, and the inaugural Tennessee Williams Award.

Aviation Museum Observes Veterans Day

November 9 @ 12 PM

Location: The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum | 701 Wilson Point Rd, Baltimore, MD 21220

The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum invites veterans, their families and the community to its Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, November 9 at 12pm. Veterans and active military are admitted free to the Museum for this special day. Non-military admission is $6 adults and $3 children. The event with wreath laying and playing of Taps takes place outdoors by the Martin State Airport flagpole, moving indoors with inclement weather. This annual ceremony is a joint venture of the Museum and Airport to honor veterans for their service to state and country. For additional information on this event visit www.mdairmuseum.org.

Preservation in Practice

Join Manor Mill and the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County on the fourth Tuesday of each month for a free meeting to discuss the many avenues and practices of preservation. We will be joined by preservation experts in fields such as American architecture, timber framing, masonry, window restoration, cemetery history and headstone cleaning, and many more. If you have a passion or interest in historic build preservation, this is the event for you to get involved and learn more!

Historic Chesapeake Bay Watercraft

Master model ship builder Eddo Postma will display three models he has crafted of historic sailing work boats on the Chesapeake and will be available to answer questions. At 1 p.m., Chesapeake Bay boat historian Pete Lesher, from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, will give a PowerPoint presentation on the same topic.

Who is BCHN?


The Baltimore County Heritage Network was formed in 2022, supported by a grant from the Maryland Center for History and Culture’s Miller History Fund. This collaboration of small history organizations around Baltimore County allows us to share our combined strengths. We hope to increase the sustainability and public awareness of our member organizations. More than that we hope to spread our love of our local history and its amazing stories to more people in our region.
