The mission of the New Jersey-Israel Commission is to foster economic, scientific, educational and cultural ties with the State of Israel, one of New Jersey's most important trading partners. Please find our latest newsletter below.

Josh Berliner, ED, joined the BIRD Foundation and NJ's Council on Science, Innovation, and Technology to brainstorm avenues of collaboration between New Jersey and Israeli companies.

NJIC Meeting with Nurit Tindari at the Israel Consulate

The NJ Israel Commission joined an intimate meeting at the Israeli Consulate in NYC with Nurit Tindari, Head of Cultural Affairs at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions focused on how to bring Israeli culture and art from the stage and gallery into the streets and communities of New Jersey.

NJ Israel Conference Call with Ben Gurion University President about Academic BDS.

NJIC members conferenced with Daniel Chamovitz, President of Ben Gurion University, which has a formal partnership with the NJIT. Danny is a Pennsylvania native, who is also a leader on Israel's Association of University Presidents. Since October 7th, he has been very vocal in the media on the effects of BDS, but vis-a-vis the faculty and less so the students. On the call, Danny discussed Academic BDS, and the way that it affects faculty and research associated with Israeli scholars and institutions.

“We join all people across our state who rejoice at the news that Edan is being reunited with his loving family,” said Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way. “We embrace the Alexander family with love and support at this time, and extend our heartfelt prayers for healing and comfort to all of the families affected by the October 7 attack.”

Israel Day Parade in NYC

This year, we again sponsored a float at the Israel Parade down Fifth Avenue in New York City, and we were joined by a contingent of NJ State Troopers from the Jewish Troopers Association. We have already secured our spot in 2026's parade, so look for the date of that event to be posted.

NJ-Israel FoodTech Webinar

NJIC hosted a FoodTech webinar with Philadelphia Israel Chamber, Bimbo Foods, and Mush Foods. The webinar is in anticipation of future Foodtech collaboration activities.

Israel Tourism Mission Relaunch

NJIC was in attendance to support the event, which celebrated reopening NJ-Israel tourism in the wake of the war. Highlights included celebrating various local and Israeli vendors, as well as an announcement from United Airlines about resuming flights to Israel.

NJIC hosted a fireside chat with Birthright NJ about the impact of their programs on NJ's economy and community over the last several years.



BioTech Delegation in New Jersey

 For the second year in a row, we hosted a Biotech delegation from Israel to exhibit at BioNJ's annual BioPartnering Conference. Six companies joined our delegation this year, four of whom are also "New Jersey" companies. Monday evening, we hosted a reception for the companies with the healthcare and investment community in Jersey City, and on Wednesday and Thursday, the startups visited healthcare systems around our State. Philadelphia Israel Chamber arranged a meeting with Penn Health, Commission Member Jason Shames helped connect us to Hackensack Meridian, and Commission Members Sarri Singer and Senator Singer helped connect us to RWJBarnabas. We are already seeing results of this delegation. One company already received funding from NJEDA; At least one company applied for new funding from NJEDA; and several companies have already applied to participate, with the help of Choose New Jersey, to Hackensack Meridian's innovation program.

Jerusalem Post Conference in NYC

We sponsored this year's Jerusalem Post Conference in NYC, and we have also secured our sponsorship in next year's JPost conference, as well. The conference brings together politicians, influencers, and artists from the Jewish and Zionist communities, including many NJIC members. 

New Jersey Israel Spring Commission Meeting at Ravitz Family Market

The last meeting took place in Cherry Hill, at the local ShopRite owned by NJIC member Jason Ravitz. We were joined by several local leaders and elected officials, as well as Asm. William Spearman. In addition to recapping the last several months, the local officials all illustrated the deep ties that the Jewish and Zionist communities have in Camden County, and the positive impact that IHRA adoption had had locally. The Jewish Troopers Association joined us, to recap their own year and talk about visiting Poland with the March of the Living.
