The Club has held 2 rides since the last Newsletter.
The Free Father's Day Ride went off on June 18. Over 40 riders and passengers took part.
- It snowed on Saturday afternoon at 12,000 feet, but the new snow had all melted by 6 PM.
- The Adventure loop over 4 high Mountain Passes was more than passable, with only one slight detour trail thru the forest, around a snowfield early Sunday morning.
- The ADV loop was a great ride, except for the last 3 miles to the Alpine Tunnel, which were blocked by snow drifts.
Which was a bummer, but we made the best of it with lunch at the Silverplume General Store in Pitkin.
-
2 of the Passes on the Dual Sport Ride had multiple impassable Snow drifts.
- Which then required some self-navigation with the Ride with GPS Tracks.
- Everyone seemed to enjoy the Campsite on Greens Creek, and adult beverages were consumed around the Raging camp fire.
-
Airline Captain Kevin Goff added to the excellent ambience Saturday Night by playing DJ .
A Camp breakfast & Coffee and OJ was included on Sunday Father's Day morning and was enjoyed by all.
-
The overflow campsite 1/2 mile up the canyon had all of 5 campers.
- Let’s do it again on Father's Day next year?
Would you like to ride the trails that we missed because of too much snow on Father’s Day in June?
- In August you can ride the Continental Divide Trail, Greens Creek and the Monarch Crest trail.
- Taylor Gulch, Tomichi Pass, Hancock Pass.
- The Rainbow trail, the Otto Mears Tollroad and Agate Creek.
- Quakey, the 4 Mile OHV area, and multiple Dual Sport and Adventure Loops at X-Roads BV.
