NCA 2026 Institute for Faculty Development Convenes 

Duquesne University in Pittsburgh is hosting NCA's Institute for Faculty Development (IFFD) for the third consecutive year. This five-day virtual program, happening this week, supports communication educators to engage on emerging issues, research, and trends in the discipline while enhancing teaching and learning practices. Participants network with undergraduate-focused faculty members and engage with leading scholars in the field. This year, 82 attendees representing 75 colleges and universities are participating in the Institute.

2027 NCA Leadership Nominations


NCA is seeking members to serve in roles such as Second Vice President, the Legislative Assembly, Councils, Standing Committees, National Award Selection Committees, and more. All positions selected through this cycle will begin service in 2027.

NCA Communities Launching


This July, NCA will introduce NCA Communities, a brand-new online platform for collaborating and communicating within Interest Groups. It is a step towards transitioning from the L-Soft email groups to the online NCA Communities. The administrators of the Interest Groups are preparing for the shift, working with NCA staff to ensure it is a success. Their efforts will foster improved communication and engagement within the Interest Groups.

NCA Stands in Support of Academic Freedom & IDEA


NCA’s Executive Committee recently released a statement reaffirming NCA’s commitment to academic freedom and concerns about academic policies that would hinder inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA). NCA also joined 22 other scholarly and professional organizations in signing a letter led by the American Historical Association opposing restrictions on teaching and learning at Texas Tech University.
