UDC's 48th Commencement: A Day to Launch and Soar

Saturday, May 10, was a memorable day at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. In total, 770 students crossed the stage—each with their story, supporters and dreams ahead. This year's class was one of UDC's most inspiring yet: the youngest graduate was 19 and the oldest was 75. Twenty-four earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Students earned degrees across every level and college, from associate degrees to Juris Doctorates. Three hundred seventy-nine students graduated from the UDC Community College.

It was an evening full of inspiration and celebration. On May 9, UDC welcomed students, faculty and special guests to the Student Center Ballroom for an Honorand Reception recognizing three standout individuals. President Maurice D. Edington shared, “We are thrilled to recognize Ms. Adams, Mr. Haygood and Mr. Williams as our 2025 honorary degree recipients. Their dedication is a true testament to what a purpose-driven individual can accomplish. Tonight, we celebrate their achievements and the lasting impact they have made worldwide and here in the District of Columbia.”

Athletics

On May 6, the UDC Athletics Department honored 30 student-athletes, both graduate and undergraduate, from all 10 sports programs at the annual awards banquet held in the Student Center Ballroom. Each graduating senior received a special student-athlete stole to wear on graduation day, marking their hard work and dedication throughout their athletic careers.
